My Best Friend Rita

Meeting Rita

It's finally Halloween and I have my zombie costume on. Mommy said I looked very spooky and that she got scared when she saw me. I wanted to show daddy but he's at work. It's ok though I'll show him when he gets back and eat my candy with him! I was about to walk outside when mommy stopped me and said I needed to be careful and not eat my candy till she put it through the metal detector. I laughed and said her mouth wasn't a metal detector she ruffled my hair and said I was growing up fast. I ran outside and saw little kids around my age running house to house yelling trick or treat. They all had amazing costumes, some kids were dressed as fairys, mummy's, robots, aliens, and super hero's. I was scared I didn't know anyone here. What if they don't like me. What if they are mean. I looked for a kid to be alone so I can be friends with them but none showed up. Suddenly a little girl came and sat on the sidewalk. "Hi im Aiden!" I reached out my hand for a handshake but she looked at me saying nothing. "What's your name?" I asked. Still no response. I quickly noticed she didn't like me and I got sad. I got up to leave and she spoke "Rita", her voice was sweet and gental. She spoke to me. She does like me! I felt happiness rush through me. "What's your costume Rita?" I asked. She took a while to answer. "I'm Frankenstein's monster" she replied. "Isn't Frankenstein supposed to have the bolts through his neck not his head?" I asked quite confused. "I'm the special edition" She replied. I thought that was funny and laughed. "C'mon Rita! Let's go trick or treating! Maybe we can get those candy's with special messages!" We went house after house getting candy's after candy's. We sat on the sidewalk in front of my house and I unwrapped my first candy. It was a special message candy. "Look Rita mine says boo! Haha that's cool what does yours say?" She unwrapped hers and it read you found me. "Haha yeah it's true I found my new best friend!" She smiled and got up. "Aiden I have to go home it was fun getting a new best friend." She said with a smile. "Aw ok bye but promise I'll see you next halloween?" I said holding out my pinky finger. "I promise" she said making a pinky promise. She started to walk away and I yelled "you pinky promised so no matter what you have to do it! Bye best friend!" She turned and gave me a bright smile and waved goodbye.
