"This formula was created in the 70's, and is one of the most important in the field of financial theory"
Hmm, rain. It's been a while since we've gotten rain around here. Although, it is the rainy season, so it's not exactly surprising. Personally I love the rain, mostly the sound of it. The way the raindrops fell, like the soft tapping of fingers. Even looking at the droplets hitting the windows was strangely calming. For this reason I felt lucky for having a seat next to the window, although I did spend more time staring out it than I did paying attention to Mrs. Philips. It didn't help that the lectures in class were pretty boring. Mrs. Philips voice wasn't soporific, I just wasn't interested in what she was saying.
"It is used to calculate the price of European style options, and is wildly used by option marketers."
Honestly, I didn't care too much for economics. I was only taking this class because it was mandatory in order to graduate. Luckily, it was my senior year, so after this semester I was done with high school forever. For now, I was stuck in economics class staring out the window at the dark clouds circling the town. I soon became mesmerized by how the raindrops danced across the window. I could of stared outside for hours, but my thoughts soon became interrupted.
"Ms. Anderson."
I quickly shot up my head to face Mrs. Philips. Hopefully she wasn't calling on me just because I was spacing out during her lecture.
"Um. Yes ma'am?"
"Would you care to explain the equations I've set up on the blackboard?"
I began to rack my brain of everything I had studied in my economic textbook. After a few seconds of sheer panic I calmed down and figured the answer must be...
"The Black-Scholes model formula."
"Hmm. Very good as always Ms. Anderson."
Anderson. It followed me wherever I went. Most people didn't even know my first name, only my surname. No doubt since the name was the trademark of the internationally famous philanthropic "Anderson Family Toys," and because the founder was my biological grandfather.
"Now, separate into your groups and work on your company projects. Remember, everything is due Monday. Go ahead now."
Before I knew it Chloe and Bella had scooted their desk to align with mine, and we turned into The Three Musketeers. Whenever Mrs.Philips let the students decide on groups, the three of us always grouped together into our trio. I started to remember the day we became best friends; it was the middle of our freshman year, and Chloe dragged me along to get her hair done because she was sick of her long brown 'basic' hair.
"It's a hassle and I'm just going to shave it all off" she would all ways say jokingly.
I never thought she'd actually do it until she was sitting in the salon seat saying those exact words to the stylist. Her stylist raised her eyebrows but before she even had a chance to ask if Chloe was a serious we heard a gasp from a girl in the chair next to her.
"Oh no,no,no! Shaving off all your hair is only acceptable if your Brittany Spears and it's 2007, and even then it's debatable" the girl exclaimed.
She must have just gotten done with her appointment because her stylist was removing her coat as she flipped her ridiculously long, but freshly cut, strawberry blonde hair. She stood up and walked over to us, eyeing Chloe with her bright blue eyes, looking at her mass of hair that lay tangled all over Chloe's head.
"You have the perfect face for a pixie cut and really pretty brown eyes that should totally be on display" the girl murmured, "Would you like that?" she asked looking at Chloe.
