"Hinata! You're going to be late for school!" The bright orange haired, ball of sunshine heard his mother shout as he launches himself out of bed. He quickly throws on his clean uniform and picks up his bag before rushing out the door to grab his bike. As he straddles his bike and starts his trek to school, his thoughts travel to his two favorite things, volleyball and his setter Kageyama. Hinata didn't really know how to explain the relationship he had with Kageyama, because what they had was kind of unique. Kageyama wasn't exactly just a teammate or just a friend to him and Hinata had the growing suspicion that his feelings towards him were more romantic then anything else.
~Time skip to volleyball practice~
"Dumbass Hinata! I clearly won the race!" Kageyama shouts at Hinata as he starts to jump up and down after his so called victory. Hinata was just about to shout back at Kageyama when he heard a voice say "Come on you two! Both of you get dressed and ready" Daichi tells them as he steps into the empty gym, shaking his head at how immature the freak duo can be. The duo head into the changing room and start to undress and get ready for practice.
Hinata glances over to Kageyama who was just about take his shirt off to expose his beautifully toned abs. Even though Hinata didn't mean to stare, he did unconsciously and admired how well defined Kageyama's muscles were. Although Hinata had seen Kageyama like this countless times before this time felt... different in some way. Hinata's thoughts were quickly interrupted by the sudden ruckus of his other teammates arriving.
~Another time skip to the end of practice~ (sorry, I'm lazy)
Volleyball was like any other day except for the lingering imagine and intruding thoughts of Kageyama. During practice, Hinata wasn't able to focus very well because he was trying to sort his thoughts on how he felt about Kageyama. Is he a friend? Is he my best friend? Do I have romantic feelings for him? But I'm not gay... or I'm I??? To be honest, He had never had a crush on anyone before because of how focused he was on volleyball, so being gay was a possibility. While Hinata was trying to think of a way to figure out his feelings on Kageyama, he recalled hearing that if you think of one specific person often (or almost all the time for his case) that it probably meant you were falling in love with that person.
Hinata dismissed the thoughts because Kageyama had started to walk over to him in the changing room after practice had ended and everyone had left. "Oy, Hinata. You seemed a little unfocused at today's practice. Is something wrong?" As Kageyama asked this, his features seemed to soften and he looked less threatening. Hinata had only seen this face from Kageyama when he was generally worried about something and only showed it to Hinata. Oh, shit he might be on to me... he thought to himself as he tried to think of an excuse. "umm... w-well, uhh I haven't been sleeping that great lately thats all. Hehe." Hinata said awkwardly as he looked down at the floor and scratched the back of his neck. Kageyama just looked at Hinata blankly with no emotion what so ever. Hinata slowly looked up at the black haired setter. Holy crap, he's cute... I'm surprised I haven't said anything to him yet... Kageyama thought to himself as he felt his heart skip a beat while staring into Hinata's large, mocha eyes. "Well, I don't believe you." He said bluntly to his little spiker. Shit, shit, shit! He didn't believe me! He knows something is wrong. Maybe I should just tell him. But then it might destroy our friendship and might affect our performance in volleyball... Hinata was panicking and it clearly showed on his face, as he started to sweat and play with his hands. "It's because I think I have feelings for you!" Hinata blurted out before he could process what he was saying and quickly a bright red blush crossed his entire face as he put his hands over his mouth, as if to try and stop the words he was saying. Kageyama, who was surprised by the sudden shouting, just stared blankly with wide eyes as he was trying to process what exactly had just happened. And before Kageyama knew what he was doing he mumbled his reply under his breath. " I do too..." He looked down to the ground as he didn't want Hinata to see him blush profusely. Hinata opened his eyes and took his hands off his mouth as he stared at Kageyama with confusion in his eyes. "Wait, you DO too!?" Hinata just stared at Kageyama and he stared back, both confused of what had just happened.
Author's note
Hello! I just wanted to say thanks for choosing my story to read and that I won't be able to update this regularly because of school and just life in general. But I'll try my best! Also, this is my first fanfiction so it probably won't be the best but I won't know until I try! (I already know that it's not going to be that great lol).
