As Hinata and Kageyama were sitting in the most awkward silence imaginable, they both were pondering over what to do next with their feelings. Both of them knew that they could no longer hide it from each other after what had happened, but the thought of them dating seemed like it would interfere with their volleyball performance. Also, wouldn't it be a little strange since they were both guys? To Hinata, neither of them seemed to fit the "gay" category; they were just complete and utter volleyball idiots And that's the only thing that truly mattered to them other than each other. But that may be the reason behind them not showing or understanding their true feelings until just now.
Hinata glanced over to see that Kageyama, who was seated beside him, had the reddest cheeks imaginable. He sat completely still, unblinking while he was gazing at the floor with wide eyes. Kageyama looked up subtly and caught Hinata's gaze, they both turned away again even more flustered than before. Neither Kageyama or Hinata knew the first thing about love. Hinata's only knowledge on the matter was about love between siblings but that wasn't even remotely close to the romantic side of the meaning.
Kageyama's mind was completely blank and he felt lightheaded but in a good way, which was the most peculiar feeling. The silence was interrupted by the high-pitched sound a cell phone's ring tone. Hinata jumped at the sudden sound and he started to clumsily look through his gym bag and finally pulled out his phone. "Hello?... Yes, I'm sorry mom... I stayed late with Kageyama so we could practice some more... I know I'm sorry, I was just about to head home... Ok, bye" Hinata hadn't noticed how much time had passed since practice had ended but at the moment it was almost 8:30 and Hinata's mother had started to worry about him. Kageyama was staring at him with emotionless eyes and a face frozen with a stunned expression.
Hinata stood up and went to grab his bag off of the opposite bench but felt something hold him back. He turned around to see the clearly flustered Kageyama had grabbed his hand. Hinata didn't try to loosen Kageyama's grip and instead relaxed his arm. "Can I- can I walk you home," Kageyama muttered under his breath as he turned the opposite direction, feeling his face heat up. Hinata and Kageyama's house were in the same direction so it wasn't too far-fetched of an idea. Well, it wasn't too far fetched or weird if you forgot what had happened only moments before.
"I guess you - you could" Hinata finally yelped out as his response to the setter's question. Even after Hinata had answered his question, Kageyama still didn't let go of his hand. Slowly rising from the bench, Kageyama grabbed his bag and started to walk towards the gym door. Practically dragging Hinata in the process.
When the pair opened the doors leading to the outside, Hinata shivered at the cold air slapping against his body. Kageyama awkwardly stood closely to him and dropped his largely over-sized jacket across Hinata's slender shoulders, attempting to protect his small sunshine from the harshness of the cold wind.
"Holy crap, crap, crap, crap... CRAP!!! Why did I agree to this?! AHHHH This is so awkward and it seems like one of those really bad romantic comedies that has zero plot development through it!!" Hinata thought to himself as he and his tall, blueberry setter walked down the dark moonlit streets. Well, it was more like his mind was actually screaming this out at him and he had no control over it at the moment.
(Insert TARDIS sound effect because of small time skip)
Kageyama and Hinata stopped in front of the three-way street in which they always met each other at. "well- well," Kageyama mumbled as he turned away clearly flustered, "I um... I um, guess this is uh... where I leave you..." He said this as if it was intended to be a goodbye of sorts, but refused to loosen his grip on the smaller boys hand. Hinata stared up at the taller boy's dark, gleaming blue eyes, seeing the stars reflecting off the glossy surface giving the impression as if the sky itself was trapped within them. His eyes were so beautiful to Hinata because he could always figure out what exactly Kageyama was thinking about just by looking into his eyes.
"heh, no wonder I'm in love with him..." Hinata mumbled unconsciously while staring at the beautiful, dark haired boy, not entirely noticing that his mouth was moving as fast as his brain was forming the words. Kageyama heard him clearly even if Hinata himself hadn't heard it and Kageyama took it as an opportunity to do something he had been holding back for the entire walk. He stood in front of him, taking Hinata's other hand in the process and leaning down to reach the other's soft pink lips.
Hinata felt the sudden warmth on his lips. Feeling oddly satisfied with the sensation of Kageyama's on his. The kiss was short and small, but it held so many emotions and they didn't need to explain each other's feelings through words, this was truly the only course of action that needed to be taken to cease any doubt or hesitation that might have been present. They both had known for a long time that they loved each other, but the two were just afraid of accepting those feelings and being rejected for them and being thrown aside as if they didn't matter anymore. But now that they knew they weren't going to be rejected by the other, the duo was so overjoyed they couldn't seem to able to form any words to show just how happy they were. Or sound effects like, "Gwaah!" and "WAAAHHH" for Hinata's case.
Kageyama parted away from the soft, warm kiss. He looked into Hinata's soft, chocolate eyes. The beautiful mocha eyes were on filled with a bright silvery glow of the moonlight. "Hinata, I- I lo-love yo-you..." Kageyama stuttered as his blush grew from a powdery pink to a fiery red again.
"I love you too, Kageyama," Hinata said with ease as if he had been saying his whole life. They continued to stare into each other's eyes, admiring them as if they had all the time in the world but of course that wasn't how time worked in this world and they were both startled by the sudden chirping of Hinata's phone again. Hinata looked at the time. 21:00 (9:00 pm). He groaned knowing he was going to be yelled at for being out this late without permission. But before he left, he jumped jump and pecked Kageyama's soft cheek before running down his street towards his home feeling dazed and happy all at once.
A.N.// (crosses fingers hoping someone gets the reference of how Hinata's were filled with the moon so they were "the size of the moon" and that its nine in the afternoon... Anyone?? Please? no? ok sorry...) Ignore me being weird and tired for I have written this at about three in the morning because I can't sleep... Yay... anyways, sorry if it's crappy...
