Chapter 4

Kace's point of view- Last night when Maive ran into the woods

I was chilling in my room and surfing the world wide web. That's what I usually do on a Friday night. (I don't have much of a social life) My Dad came into my room and he sat on my bed. He patted it signaling that I sit next to him. (This means we are going to have a serious talk...Which he calls a "chat") I sighed and sat next to him. "What is it Dad?" I asked softly and he patted my thigh. "Well son I'd like you to meet a nice girl tomorrow..." He said cautiously and smiled at me awkwardly. "Um...Why?" I asked and raised one eyebrow. "Well the governor's daughter is single, well she's very nice, ver..." I cut him off. "Um dad I have no interest in making you more popular at my expense." I said seriously. He looked shocked and disgusted that I could think of such a thing. "Why would I do that?...I'm just trying to help you find a girlfriend and you seem to really need my help with that" He said and gave me a weird look. I sat there awkwardly. Even my Dad noticed my lack of companionship. I sighed and nodded. "Fine, I'll meet her but I'm not making any promises" I said softly and left my room. I went downstairs and into the kitchen. I opened the fridge and then the doorbell rang. I slowly walked over to the door and opened it. It was Maive's mom who looked just like Maive but she isn't as skinny and she has brown eyes unlike Mavie's beautiful blue ones. "Uh...Hi Kace have you seen Maive?" She asked sounding very worried. "Uh no not today actually...What happened?" I said seriously but softly. She sighed and put her hand on my shoulder. "She ran away..." She said sadly and squeezed my shoulder gently. "Well" Before I could say anything else she quickly walked away. "Bye..." I practically whispered. I knew where Maive would run but I didn't think she would run there when it's practically dark. I grabbed a flashlight and ran into the woods. I heard her scream and I ran towards the sound. Then she was silent and it was too dark. I reached a giant willow tree and stood there for a few moments. The last thing I remember was the tree. When I woke up I was in my bed at home. I sat there and pondered what happened. That's when I went to her window.
