CHAPTER 0115

Zeffa's POV

"It's okay now. He already left the room." The waiter left after leaving her order on our table. She fixed her posture as she unravels her scarf that was covering her face. Now I understand why she always does that.

Her questioning eyes. As expected, she is still looking for the answer. My answer.

"Who?" She asked me for the last time.

"The person who has the same wrist watch was.."

"Was?" She mumbled.

Sigh. "The person was our caretaker. Our caretaker."

"Impossible." She said as she shook her head. "You are not telling the truth. I want the truth." She demanded as her eyebrows furrowed. "You are lying." She assured.

I closed my eyes as I try to absorb everything she said.

I am Zeffa Montiel.

And I would never. Never. Allow anyone to talk to me that way. If this was any other nonsense argument, I would have snarled back at her to defend myself, like I always do - but not today.

Is she an exception? NO. She is not an exception. I chose to close my eyes and listen to what she said..

Because I lied.

YES.

I LIED.

"You recognized me by my watch, which means that for you to acknowledge I am not an ordinary woman by this means one thing - you know this wrist watch cost a crazy amount of money. Tons of money. And you know I accused you of being a liar because no such caretaker is crazy enough to put her life savings on a wrist watch. You know it's true, so I demand the truth."

SHE WAS RIGHT.

I slowly opened my eyes to explain.

"When I was a kid, we used to have a caretaker. It was her job to constantly talk to me. One day, when she was watering the plants, she accidentally dropped the hose resulting for her wrist watch to be watered. I saw her screaming and squeaking endlessly as she dries her wrist watch. And so, for the first time, I talked to her. I asked, 'Why are you over-reacting over an old fashioned wrist watch? Is that expensive?', and she answered excitedly, 'Yung original nito anak, mahal. Sobrang mahal. Mas mahal pa sa kotse. Kasi limited edition ba, gawa pa sa totoong ginto at tadtad ng diamante. Itong suot-suot ko, uh.. eh.. nakakahiya mang aminin, replica lang. Binili ko lang sa kanto, para may isang bagay naman na kuminang sa akin.', she happily answered. And so, being the curious kid that I was, I began searching about the watch, and I found she was telling the truth. That's the story."

She stared at me for a minute, then, she released a huge sigh. After that, I slowly began to smile as I see a smile slowly appearing on her face. And just like that, she was back to her lively self again. And just like that, she captivated me. She is really something.

"Where is everybody?" She asked me as she eats her ice cream.

"Apparently, we are the only one here."

"Uh, why do I have a feeling that you have done something to them?" She said playfully.

"Like what?"

"Like threaten them." She said sharply.

"Threaten?"

Now wait a second.

"What?" She asked when I smirked at her.

"I know that line of questioning of yours. That face of yours."

"What face?" She asked.

"You're jealous face."

*she blushed*

"Now why are you blushing--" I cut off when she rubs the ice cream on my mouth. She laughed.

OH GOD.
