"Daddy I'm hot.", Heaven said.

"I don't feel good.", Malaysia said.

Yep. I'm dealing with 2 sick girls. They've been sick since Tuesday. Nicki & I really don't talk to each other because our schedules, but every night we sit down and talk to each other.

"You want a cold cloth Hev?", I asked and she nodded.

"Alright. Go lay down in the living room. Lay, you took your medicine right?"

"Yes."

"Okay. I can't give you anything else cause you'll throw it up. Go in the living roo, and watch tv. Take a trash can with you."

I watched her walk out the kitchen and I sighed. I wet a cloth for Heaven and took it to her. I put my hand on her face and she was hot.

"Here. Let me know when it gets dry."

I heard the the doorbell ring so I went and answered. It was Nicki and she had "Get Well Soon" balloons and cards.

"These are for the girls. Are they awake?"

"Ms. Nicki!", they yelled and hugged her.

"Hey girls. They even look like they don't feel good."

"Are these for us?", Malaysia asked.

"They sure are. Here you go."

"What do you guys say?"

"Thank you Ms. Nicki!"

"Alright. Back to the living room. Especially you Malaysia. I don't need you throwing up on these floors."

They ran back in the living room and I let Nicki in.

"We can go to the den. The girls will be good in the living room.", I said and she nodded.

We walked in the den and I kept the door open for the girls. I got 2 waters and gave her one.

"Here you go. I can get you a soda if you want."

"No that's fine. Thank you."

I nodded and sat down across from her.

"So I have a question.", I said.

"Ask away.", she said.

"Were you together with their mom?"

"Nah. We broke up a little bit after she told me she was pregnant. No-one cheated, we just didn't have anymore chemistry."

"They still know who their mom was, right?"

"Yeah, of course. My mom tells them stories all the time, especially when we were younger."

"Oh. It was young love too. Props to y'all. I couldn't do it."

We both laughed and she started smiling again.

"Now why are you single Ms. Maraj?"

"I do have a boyfriend and his name is Work and Bill. Bill cheats anyway so."

"Oh really? I need to sit down and have a chat with Bill cause why would he even think about cheating?"

She laughed some more and then calmed down.

"But seriously, the only reason I'm single now is because people don't know what loyalty is really. My best friend was about to get engaged, but she found out her boyfriend was married and had 2 kids with 1 on the way."

"Last relationship I had was about 2 months ago. She didn't like the girls so she had to go. I'm not the type of person who puts their spouse in front of their children.", I said and she nodded.

"I forgot to ask, how did the girls do at their competition?"

"They did great. 1st place. I was definitely impressed."

We continued to talk then Heaven ran in the room.

"Yes babygirl?"

"Laysia threw up."

"I'm going to go so you can attend to your girls. Tonight at 9?"

"You know it.", I said and she nodded.

She let herself out and I went in the living room and saw that she threw up in the trash can.

"Exactly why I didn't give you anything. Just lay here alright? Hev, come here so I can take your temperature."

I got the thermometer and she stood in front of me.

"Lift your tongue up."

She did and I stuck the thermometer under her tongue and waited. It beeped and said 102.5

"It went down some. Good thing. You want some water?"

"Yes please."

"Okay, you just sit tight real quick."

I went in the kitchen and put the thermometer on a paper towel then fixed her something to drink.

"Here you go little one. You feel any better M?"

"I feel tired."

"You take a nap. Don't forget your trash can is there and cleaned. Hev, keep an eye out for your sister.", I said and she nodded.

"Heaven is now on duty to take care of her sister."

"I'll be in my room if you guys need me."

I kissed their foreheads and went upstairs, to my room. I looked at the wall and saw a picture of their mom and I.

Flashback

"Meek I'm serious. We have to name our beautiful princesses.", Nevaeh said.

"Let's name one of them Heaven since that's your name backwards and then we can give the other princess my initials. That good?"

"That's perfect. Just 2 more months and we'll be parents."

I wiped my tears and sat down on my bed.

I've came a long way with them. I didn't know if I was fit enough to be a single dad but 5 years later, I'm out here being the best dad ever and they wouldn't trade me for the world. I just wish their mom was here with them to experience what it feels like to be a parent.
