You start off in a panic. On first falling off and plunging into the dark abyss below, you begin to struggle, your voice calling ever louder and louder, desperate to be heard over the thundering waves begins to get hoarse after only five minutes. Fear sets in. The more you thrash around the harder it becomes to stay afloat. Each time your head dips under you swallow more water than the last. Ten minutes have passed. Your limbs start to become heavy. The cold is getting to you. It's grabbing hold of you and not letting go. The cold to your heat is like a thief to some diamonds. As quick as the heat is there, it is gone. Stolen and with no intention of being returned.
Your body begins to sink. You take a deep breath and...
You're under.
You open your eyes only to feel one thousand bees sting them but you persist. Small air bubbles escape your lips and push to the surface with the same desperation of a baby bird in an egg. Your surroundings are dull and murky, poisoned by the hatred of man. Your lungs are burning with anger. How dare you do this to them. How dare you deny them of the one thing they so desperately need. How dare you. They scream at you for that is all they know.
Your body is still falling.
How long has it been? The concept of time has been long forgotten.
The anchors of cloth attached to your skin drag you down, though, you feel suspended in mid-air. Movement has slowed down as though this were staged. A feeling of isolation creeps in on you. You'll be alone as the reaper takes your soul. You consider for a moment that he is playing a game with you, that he is watching you suffer and is perhaps enjoying it. You shudder at his sick version of pleasure, your body can do little more than a twitch.
Floating downwards towards the sandy bottom you find moderate humour at the realisation that you are "swimming" in and out of consciousness. You crack a slow, sad smile.
Your mouth opens involuntarily and water rushes in, desperate to push out the air and fill in the space. Pain seizes up your lungs and your heart pumps until it is in your ears. The deep shades of blue and green fade into grey and black. This can't be it. This shouldn't be it. So sudden. So unsatisfactory. Your mind is filled with rage you make one last attempt to push to the surface and...
Goodbye.
