I apologize guys for not updating soon enough. I lost some readers because of it but thanks to the ones who still kept this book!

"One lime margarita with a lemon and a shot of vodka."

I handed the drink to fine young woman and she smiled at me.

"Thanks sweetie." She said with her thick Dominican accent.

She took a sip, leaving a red lipstick stain on the rim of the glass. She then looked down at the glass for a second.

I frowned. "Is there something wrong with it?" I asked. Great, first day on the job and I already jacked up someone's drink.

"No, I just never tasted a lime margarita like that before. I like it."

I sighed in relief.

"Oh, I added a little brown sugar." I smiled.

"Experimenting; I like that." She flicked her long brown hair off of her shoulder. "They made a good choice, hiring someone like you."

"Thanks" I smiled.

She nodded and left her seat to go mingle with the crowd.

Now that was a woman. I smirked to myself and began wiping the counter. I keep enjoying this job more and more. My shift was over in about five minutes. Luckily, I don't have to close up this week.

"I don't think I like you working here anymore, you're attracting more ladies than me."

I turned to so the other bartender, Rob, smirking at me while cleaning a glass. I laughed.

"Hey, I'm more surprised than you are. I've never gotten this much attention while I was in high school."

It's true. I was deemed nonexistent in my school. Nobody knew or cared to know me, and that didn't bother me as much as it should've. All I cared about was becoming a surgeon and hopefully owning my own practice. And all I needed was my two goofy friends and my family's moral support.

Rob chuckled.

"This isn't high school anymore, you're a man now. Nothing's ever perceived the same. Everything changes." His voice lowered a bit while he stared into space.

"You okay man?" I asked, my brows furrowed.

He blinked then shook his head.

"Yeah, I'm good. Now get out of here, your shift ended three minutes ago!" He shooed me off.

"You sure you don't want me to help lock up?" I asked.

"Nah, go home to your neighbor." He chuckled.

Yeah, I told Rob about Jessica. Ever since I met her, I couldn't stop thinking about her. She's just so confident being in her own skin. Sadly, it's harder for darker skinned black women like her to make it in this cruel country. That's what attracts me to her the most; how she doesn't let her skin color get in the way of anything in life.

I smiled. "Okay, see you later man."

"Yeah, see you later." He said.

Rob's a really cool guy, a very hard worker.  Though, he does often drift into La La Land and stared intently into space. There's obviously a lot of things going on with him but it's not my place to pry. I don't know him long enough to be in his business. Plus, he seems like the kind of gut that will shut you out as soon as you cross the line.

I grabbed my jacket and my keys then made sure my wallet was still in my pocket. As soon ad I noticed it was, I checked my phone for messages from my mom. She texts me everyday.

I was so focused on my phone that I didn't noticed a woman in front of me and bumped into her, almost knocking her down. I caught her before she fell.

"I am so sorry!" I furrowed my brows in worry.

Her eyes roamed around frantically before hey landed on me. Her body seemed less tense once she saw my face. Her eyes. So. Green.

"No, I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention." Her deep seductive voice sounded silky and smooth.

My heart jumped. She's so gorgeous.

"I-it's fine." I couldn't think of any words damnit!
She smirked up at me, her bright eyes glistening. I was still holding her.

"You work here?"

"Y-yeah, I mean I-I work here, but yeah. I work here. I'm Xavier. " What the hell?!

"Then I guess I'll see you around then Xavier?" She asked. Her smirk turns into a smile.

"Yeah, you will." I smirked back. Finally, I got my cool back. I let go of her arms and leaned against a nearby wall.

She nodded, then gave me a wave while walking away. I looked behind me to see her strutting in her striking white and gold dress. Jesus!

I left shaking my head. A woman like her looks like trouble.

I made my way to my apartment door, unlocking it. Suddenly, I heard a door creak open. I turned around to see The back of Jessica's head. She was talking to her someone in her apartment. She turned to me and smiled, her dimples apparent in her face.

"Okay, mom I'll be back in a few hours!" She yelled then closed the door.

"That's my mom." She sighed. "Hi, Xavier."

"Hey Jessica, how are you?" I asked. My smile widening.

"I'm good. Just needed to get out the apartment for a while." She smiles while looking at her fingers.

"I understand. Hey, if you want, there's leftover pizza and beer in the fridge from last night and I can I have a movie collection? If you want to take a look..." I trailed off.

She smiled as her eyes roamed the floor.

"Sure."
