Christopher - Realization

Oh Jesus. I totally just broke down in front of everyone. At least we've stopped in the city, a place where I'm familiar with my surroundings. But, the mystery girl, as I now know as Althea, had just fainted and I have no idea why. Matt looked super worried though...
Anyways...I'm a fucking idiot. Yes, nobody needs to tell me this. I wanted to die, wanted to leave the world, and may I quickly remind you, it's one freaking day into the apocalypse. GOD. Yet, I now realize that I want to survive. I want to be with Jack and Dan and Phil. They're practically my family now. After all, were gonna be surviving together until we're all picked off one by one, so...need I say more?
Back to Althea, she came to a few minutes ago. She's super embarrassed, and unfortunately for her, it's painfully obvious.
I finally get off of Phil and wipe my eyes. I look at his shoulder and notice a huge wet spot on his awesome shirt. "I'm so sorry Phil. I didn't mean to-"
"Chris, it's perfectly fine!" He interjects.
"I'm still sorry." I argue back. He shrugs as he leans up against Dan, patiently waiting for Althea to speak or show any sign of wanting to adventure out into my city.
I look around for Jack and walk over to him, hoping off the truck bed to where he and Mark were standing together and somehow laughing. I lower my head as I approach the two. "Hey..." I wave slightly, internally cringing at my actions. Why can't I not be awkward?! Ugh. "Hey, Christopher!" Jack says, breaking conversation with Mark to come over and hug me. "Are you alright now?" "Yeah, it's cool." I say and let go of him as I walk to Mark. I extend my hand for him to shake.
"I know you probably have the absolute worst impression of me right now, but I'd like to become friends with you. The names Christopher." He quizzically looks at my hand and shakes it a small bit weary. "Mark." He says. "I know. Jack doesn't seem to ever shut up about you." I smile and chuckle a little. This seemed to make Mark comfortable with me and he laughs, with a tinge of blush at what I said about Jackaboy. Jack quickly protests. "No I do not!" He shouts. Mark and I laugh, "Yes, you do, Jack. I know you best." He doesn't reply but walks away to Altea and Matt.
I'll take this opportunity to warm Mark up to me. "So, Mark," I start as I sit down and lean against the front of the truck. "I'd like to apologize for making you go and save me. I should've manned up and done what I needed without giving up not even half way through the fight. But I'd also like to thank you for doing what you did. I'm here because of you. You're my hero. You brought me back to my family; Jack, Dan, and Phil. I can't thank you enough for giving me a second chance to survive."
He just stares at me as my face heats up from embarrassment. Then he smiles forgivingly and nods. "You're so very welcome. Now," He reaches his arm down for me to grab as an assist to help me up. I take his hand and spring up with a smile. "we should go help Althea outta her shell." He pats me on the back as he jumps up onto the overcrowded truck bed. I follow suit.
"Althea..." I hear Matt start. "You okay?" She just blinks twice quickly in response, her face growing redder by the minute. "Come on, please talk to me." He pleads, still not getting an answer from Althea. "Althea! Answer me, please!" He whisper shouts. "Are you okay?!" "Erm...Yeah..." She says quietly. He sighs and rubs her hand. "Good...good. That's good..." Matt whispers and bows his head.  Her face starts to look as red as her hair and once again, I'm sorry to say, I can practically read her like a book. She's obviously in love with him, yet I don't think Matt noticed.
I look over to Dan and Phil, and see them together smiling. Then I look at Jack and Mark, smiling too. And then Althea and Matt, and you guessed it, they were smiling. And at that moment it hit me.
      I'm all alone.
