Kyoukai No Kanata: After-Story

Chapter 008

"Ma'am, a Spirit World Warrior wants to meet you, and her name is Mirai Kuriyama." Said a man.

"Let her come in." Izumi commanded.

Mirai comes into the room keeping her eyes at Izumi. She is glad that Izumi is looking well. Although, her glaring eyes tells her that Mirai herself is a stranger to Izumi. Mirai then decides to sit on the sofa, and waits for Izumi to cooperate. Though she did.

"I suppose your name is Mirai Kuriyama from the Cursed Blood clan. The sole survivor." Izumi said it, giving Mirai a more comfortable position. "So, why did you come here?"

Mirai looks down at the teacups in the center of the table. "I didn't just come here to talk to you, but to discuss with you about something very important. I don't want to burst out anything that just happened to me, but I well tell you first." Mirai twitch her nose. "I am from the future!"

Izumi gave Mirai a long and puzzled stare. She couldn't believe Mirai's sudden words, they looked a little too fictional, and to prove something not so obvious is to let Mirai speak of some things that is ahead of Izumi's plans.

"Prove to me that you're really from the future." Said Izumi.

Mirai looks straight at her eyes. "You're going to summon me, right? In eight months from now, you'll summon me here in Nagatsuki City to help you destroy Beyond the Boundary. On top of that you have Mitsuki and Hiromi Nase to help keep an eye on Akahito Kambara, the half-youmu whom you want to defend until the time being."

Izumi blinked. A moment later she smiles at Mirai. Without doubt, she completely convinced Izumi the truth.

"Mirai Kuriyama, how many years have you traveled back?" Izumi questioned.

"Probably about 3 years." Mirai replied.

"I see." Izumi rubs her chin. Then it hit her mind. "That reminds me. A youmu that can travel through time using humans or Spirit World Warriors' minds. It will have time traveling limits depending on the person's memories."

"You mean, you know how I can get back to the present?" Mirai questioned happily.

"I didn't say that." Izumi leans her back on the sofa. "If you're here, then that means the youmu that captured your mind is right here too in this time space of your memories."

"What do you mean?" Mirai felt puzzled.

Izumi sighed. "Mirai Kuriyama, you'll have to find that youmu before it devours you along with your memories."

Mirai instantly stands up from the sofa. She bowed to Izumi and thanked her. Mirai calmly walks out of the building. Her eyes is constantly aware of her surroundings. Although Mirai didn't bother to approach Akahito in that time period, instead she decided to go and see Ai and Ayaka.

"Hello." Ai blinked. "What a rare costumer."

"Can I talk with Ayaka?" Mirai asked.

"Well yes." Ai went to a room.

Ayaka walks to the guest room and sat across from Mirai. "What do you want to talk about?"

Mirai's hands gripping on her blue wavy skirt, the color of her junior school. "I want you to help me find a youmu."

Ayaka smiles without questioning. She helps Mirai find the youmu she seeks for, and pointed to where it is right at that moment. The place was an unexpected building. Which is Akahito's school district. Immediately Mirai runs out of Ayaka's shop thanking her, without hesitation, she would dash toward the school building where Akahito is. She knew, from the very beginning, Mirai knew something is off about this dimension she is in. The youmu is after Beyond the Boundary!

As Mirai reaches halfway to Akahito's school destrict, a girl stood in the middle of the street holding a spear. Then Mirai noticed as her vision becomes clear.

"Where are you heading to?" Amari questioned.

Mirai's eyes sharpen as she manipulate her blood, creating her sword and aiming it toward Amari. "I will no longer show mercy." Mirai took a deep breath. "You either back off, Amari, or let me destroy you from this memory of mine."

"I see, you were able to collect information about the affect of that youmu. I wouldn't doubt it at all." Amari instantly approaches Mirai.

Mirai didn't hesitate either and approach her too. Their weapon crosses, heaving to one another, then Mirai shoves Amari toward the ground and within seconds, she pin her sword on Amari. Unfortunately she dodged it before it reaches the ground. Then Mirai swiftly swing her sword from the ground toward Amari. Amari leaps backward.

"You're not too shabby. I hope you can withstand this kind of affect!" Amari suddenly threw something at Mirai, and her sword slicing the object into two pieces.

A smoking explosion occurred right in front of Mirai's face. She coughed as the smoke covers her vision. Then Mirai noticed that the smoke bomb is teargas. Amari starts laughing childishly as she watch Mirai set in tears. Instead of just standing there, Mirai quickly leaps backward to a safer spot from the teargas.

Amari finally stop laughing and gives Mirai an evil grin. "I had fun with you, but now I have to go. I'll see you again, Mirai Kuriyama."

Mirai didn't bother to stop Amari from running away, however she couldn't understand why she ran away so quickly. Unless they have some kind of tactics going on right now. Instead of thinking ahead of the youmu, Mirai immediately head to Akahito's school destrict.

When Mirai reaches to the school building she knows she'll go to someday, the youmu she is looking for is above the building and shaped like a very small cloud. Mirai took out her sword once again and leaps upward toward the youmu. The youmu paused there without moving an inch. Mirai's sword slice through the cloud-shaped youmu. She quickly turn toward it and saw no changes at all. The youmu just frozen in midair. Then it regenerates electricity from its surrounding. Mirai didn't know what to do at all, especially when she can't even touch the youmu. As if it isn't even there.

"Watch out!" Shout a familiar voice.

In slow motion, Mirai's eyes gazed at Akahito as he pushes her toward the fences. The youmu released that energy and electric shock Akahito instead of Mirai herself.

It wasn't meant to happen, not to Akahito. Even though this isn't the time space Mirai is supposed to exist in, she knows that Akahito isn't supposed to face harm. She couldn't keep her eyes off of him. Akahito grunting and groaning as he endure the pain shocking through his body. The youmu just watches Akahito as well. Mirai's fingers clenches. She felt something aching in her chest, as if she faced the same situation Akahito and her did a long time ago.

"Is it trying to awaken Beyond the Boundary?" Then Mirai felt worried.
