It's been a whole year already since Akihito Kanbara and Mirai Kuriyama got her memories back. Increasingly they've been happy about their currently life, yet Akihito felt that something is missing from their relationship. Something that needs to be improve on.
Akihito blinked as his eyes stare constantly at Mirai. She is startled by his constant stare. Mirai tries to stare back at him, but in the end there weren't any progress on doing so. Akihito sighed heavily as he stood up from his chair. Before moving his foot, Mitsuki then slide the door open, and she greeted Mirai. Akihito is mentally forced to be seated back.
"So, did you two make any improvement on this relationship of yours?" Mitsuki wondered.
Mirai blushed endlessly as Akihito faced away from her to talk to Mitsuki, responding to her curious question. "Our relationship has nothing to do with your business."
"It's a rhetorical question, Akihito." She sits down on her chair right across from Akihito's seat.
Mitsuki's eyebrows twists as she thought to herself deeply. Everything between Mirai and Akihito is literally the same routine day and night. Their phone texting hobby is going nowhere, and most concern of all Akihito's youmu or in this case Beyond the Boundary is still inside of him. That leaves Mitsuki and Mirai in their precious little job which were assigned by the Nase and is associated with the other Spirit World Warriors.
"Hey, Akihito, I'm going to go home early today since Hiroomi is still busy with his current job." Said Mitsuki, she packed her things and left the Literature Club.
Mirai and Akihito sat there silently and is speechless. The bonsai are still sitting next to the window as the dim light from the sun leaps toward it. Before saying anything, Akihito and Mirai both said something in unison. Then they paused.
"You go first." Said Mirai.
"Well-eh. Let's go home together." Said Akihito.
Even though he said that everyday, Mirai somehow didn't feel bored of it, she enjoyed walking beside Akihito--Mirai enjoys every moment with Akihito. After leaving the Literature Club, Akihito and Mirai holds hands and walks home together. Their happiness is being there for each other, lonesome couldn't overcome their faithful feelings.
"The snow, they actually remind me of the old times when we fought Beyond the Boundary." Said Akihito.
Mirai gazed at the falling white specks of snow, and smiles brightly, she said, "All of those will come to an end, but for now. Let's enjoy our lives." Happiness isn't really a permanent thing, but it comes in handy whenever and wherever they are.
Akihito smiles back. Suddenly Mirai remembered something and blushed as she gazed away. It made Akihito wonder why she looked so red.
"Um. Akihito. Christmas is near." Said Mirai.
"Yeah, I know. Are you planning to do anything though?" Akihito asked.
Mirai shook her head as a response, she gazed directly at the snow on the ground. It looked like white sheets covering the ground. Her foot is slowly being buried by the falling snow as they stood there silently. Before Akihito could take a step forward, Mirai instantly grips onto his sleeve.
"Is something wrong?" Akihito asked.
Mirai shook her head once again. Then suddenly she began to feel embarrassed for stopping him and for actually trying to ask him what he would like for Christmas. "Akihito."
"What is it?"
Mirai slowly took her red glasses off, and weakly gaze at Akihito's pale face. Their eyes meet. Mirai without glasses made him blush a little. The bespectacled beauty of Mirai would give him a hard time to slow down his impatient feelings, but even without her glasses would give him a frozen stare.
"I love you, senpai." Said Mirai.
"Ha?" Akihito replied with a speechless reaction.
Mirai instantly turns away, holding her constant blushing cheeks as she builds regret on top of her head. Akihito couldn't believe what he have heard from her words; typical words. Without another word, Akihito would slowly realized what Mirai just said. His heart paced like nothing before, he catches Mirai in his arms.
Mirai puts the red framed glasses back onto her face. Mirai's nose twitch as they both smiles at each other. Both of their cheeks burns red.
A random girl with black braided hair suddenly stood from across them. "Are you Mirai Kuriyama?" Said the girl.
Embarrassingly Mirai turns toward the girl. "Y-yeah, and who are you?"
The girl adjust her black framed glasses, Akihito's eyes starts shining. "G-glasses! Bespectacled beauties!"
The girl instantly kicked Akihito's ridiculous face onto the snowy ground, Mirai immediately formed her blood into a red sharp sword. She aimed it at the random girl, she took a few steps back from Akihito.
"Just who are you?" Said Mirai.
"How rude am I?" The girl smiles happily and innocently. "My name is Amari Itsuki, and I am also a Spirit World Warrior. By the circumstances you seem to be protecting that youmu."
"Half-youmu which is none of your concern." Said Mirai.
Amari sighed, instantly she poured out blood from her palm as well. Surprisingly attacking Mirai with the same tactics. Akihito catches Mirai and shoved them both against the snow where Amari's blooded spear wouldn't reach them.
"How were you able to use the same power as me?" Mirai asked yet she couldn't believe the possibility.
"I almost forgot to mention. I am not a part of the Cursed Blood clan, but I do possess what you possessed." Amari stretched out her arm toward Mirai, her blooded spear start dripping blood which shows the thirst to kill.
"I-it can't be possible. I'm supposed to be the only person who possess that power."
"No, you're wrong. You may be descendant of the Cursed Blood, but I was chosen by my own self. Ever since I've obtained this power I want to destroy Beyond the Boundary. So I went from country to country to find it." Said Amari.
Akihito stood up. "Kuriyama."
"Are you alright?" Mirai worried.
Amari steadily stood on the same stance, shifting her aim at Akihito. "Is this youmu trying to get kill? Aren't you afraid of my powerful will?" Then she remembered. "I heard some Spirit World Warriors from South America, they told me that Beyond the Boundary was located in Japan. I came here as soon as I heard the notifications you've all sent. Now, should I rip him open and see what kind of youmu he has inside of his puny body?"
Without any warning, Mirai swiftly swing her sword up sending Amari's spear up in the air and impaled the white snow as it landed. The blooded red spear is at a decent distance from her which kept Amari harmless to Mirai and Akihito. She lift her hands up.
"I give up." Amari said it as she give them an innocent face. It surprised Mirai, because no enemy would give up so easily, she blinked. Akihito felt a bit awkward with the situation since Mirai was actually ready to defeat Amari that instant.
Amari stretch her hand for the spear, sending her blood back into her palm. The other thing that is odd about her is that she don't need anything to seal her powers. Amari could probably control her powers naturally, although it is a bit dangerous if she doesn't have anything to seal her powers, it might even cause her blood to attack at any instant. Amari left, humming as she disappear in the distance.
"W-who is that, Kuriyama?" Akihito wondered.
Mirai didn't know how to answer his question. She just stares at that distance still trying to understand that poor girl. Not only did their relationship became a struggle, but the protection of Beyond the Boundary became a struggle as well.
