Chapter 6

After a week at Red Base, Y/N had finished the physical examinations of the Red Team. The only reason it took so long was because the Red soldiers had been so difficult. In fact, Donut was the only one that had gone off without a hitch. He happily let her exam everything while chatting about how they were going to redecorate Y/N's room. She'd had to wait to give Grif his physical exam since he'd been throwing up for three days straight. Other than that he didn't seem bothered save for a bit of awkwardness that probably resulted from the lack of girls in Blood Gulch. Simmons and Sarge were another story entirely. They both put it off until Y/N got impatient and pulled rank on them. Sarge was so tense and tried to leave multiple times muttering about checking on his men. Simmons couldn't make eye contact and barely spoke, blushing profusely. The awkwardness was so thick you could have cut it with a knife. Now at least Y/N could move onto Blue Base.

Y/N turned on her radio and tuned into the Blue's frequency. "Medical Aid L/N here. I'm en route to Blood Gulch Outpost: Alpha."

There was no response.

"Hello?" Y/N tried.

"Hello?" An unfamiliar voice replied. "Who is this?"

"I am Medical Aid L/N-" She started.

"When did we get a new medic?" The stranger asked.

"About a week ago." Y/N was starting to get frustrated. "I'm letting you know I'm on my way to Blood Gulch Outpost: Alpha."

"Oh. Okay." He said, sounding confused.

"Did Blue Command not inform you of my arrival?" Y/N asked.

"Apparently not." The voice answered. "I guess we'll see you soon then."

"Affirmative." Y/N replied.

Y/N made the walk between bases and met with the regulation blue soldier out the front of Blue Base.

"Hi lady." He greeted cheerfully.

"Hello Caboose." Y/N responded, trying to keep an open mind about what was going to happen next. "And it's Y/N."

"Church told me to come and say hi to you and show you where to go." Caboose stated happily.

"That's nice of you, thanks." Y/N replied politely.
