"Can we please talk? Please?" Lucas said, leaning against the locker next to Riley's.
She ignored him, opening her locker door and peering inside her locker, trying to keep from looking at Lucas.
"Please. What did I do?" Lucas pleaded, switching to the locker on her other side and leaning against that one.
Riley huffed, grabbing her books out of her locker and then slamming the locker door shut. She willed herself to not talk to him. After all, she had been quite hurt when Lucas told her they didn't have time to talk. She knew it was a horrible thing to do, but she wanted him to know how much that had hurt her.
"Please talk to me. I'm sorry, and I'll listen to you talk about whatever you want for as long as you need to. You want to talk about Pluto? I will totally listen you to rant about Pluto for hours. I really want to go back and take back what I said-" Lucas was cut off by Maya, who had been watching from afar, and had decided to step in before things got too messy.
"You know what, Riles? I have to use the bathroom, and you're coming with me." Maya grabbed Riley by the arm and pulled her off towards the bathroom, leaving Lucas to stand by himself in the hallway.
"I don't understand, Riles. Why won't you just accept his apology? He said he'd listen to you talk about Pluto." Maya scoffed. "Why can't you just let him be sorry? Plus, there was a lot of tension that night, and it probably affected him too."
Riley rolled her eyes. "It's different, Maya. He hurt me, because he didn't want to talk to me. I was his favorite person to talk to. And, now, he doesn't even want to talk about our relationship? Is it a bad relationship? Is that why he won't talk about it? I mean, if it is-"
"Riles, you are being way too paranoid about this." Maya shook her head. "If you want to talk about the relationship, then talk about it. In fact, tell him everything you just told me."
"But-" Riley said, then sighed. "But talking to you and talking to him - those are very different things."
"It's not any different. We're both need you, and right now Lucas needs you more than I do. We're you're friends, and there's nothing we wouldn't want to talk about with you." Maya shrugged.
Riley frowned, thinking about what Maya said. If they would talk with anything about her, why wouldn't Maya tell her about her other crush?

"Farkle, talk to me." Riley crossed her arms and glared at Farkle.
"I don't really want to, Riley." Farkle said, trying to step around Riley but finding his attempts blocked by her outstretched arm.
"Farkle, what is wrong with you? You've been acting horrible, and I know it's been rough, but I'm your best friend and I'm here for you." Riley sighed.
"You aren't my best friend," Farkle said, scowling. "Maya and Lucas are my best friends, especially because they aren't pestering me to spill all my thoughts and emotions to them."
"It's because I care, Farkle. I want to help you." Riley said.
"If you cared so much, you'd know to mind your own business instead of trying to be my therapist." Farkle rolled his eyes. "Now, I'm going to walk away, and you won't stop be. Because you care so much." He emphasized his last few words, attempting to mimic Riley. He turned and walked away from her, leaving Riley to feel awful about her friendship with Farkle.
