Their car pulled up to the house, and Lucas smiled at Riley.
"I remember this place," Riley said.
Lucas nodded. "Well, hopefully, there aren't too many bad memories here."
Riley shrugged. "So much happened here, with me, you, and Maya."
"This time, it's just me and you." Lucas said.
"Yeah." Riley nodded. "Just me and you."
-&-
Riley lay in bed that night, unable to sleep.
Lucas was in the room next to her's, and his grandfather was in the room on the other side of Lucas'.
She stared at the ceiling and sighed. Saying she was worried was an understatement - she had to meet Lucas' parents the next day.
What if they hated her? What if they told Lucas that he wasn't allowed to date her?
As these thoughts flooded her head, Riley knew she wouldn't be able to sleep. She sat up in bed and kicked off her covers, placing her feet on the hardwood floor. She stood up and crossed the room, opening the door slowly - and wincing when she heard the hinges creak.
She made her way to the kitchen quietly, deciding to get a glass of water. She stood in front of the cupboards, trying to remember which held the cups.
She started with the cabinet on the right, opening it and finding some plates. She opened the next cupboard, and the next - with no luck.
"Looking for something?"
Riley spun around, startled, to find Lucas smiling at her.
"Sorry," she said. "Did I wake you up?"
Lucas shook his head. "No. I couldn't sleep. What about you?"
Riley shrugged. "Same thing," she frowned. "Then, I needed some water, but I'm starting to think you don't own any cups."
Lucas laughed and walked over to the cabinets, opening one and pulling out a cup. He handed to her.
"Any reason you couldn't sleep?" He asked.
Riley sighed. "I'm just nervous."
"About what?" Lucas leaned on the counter next to Riley.
"About meeting your parents. What if they don't like me?" She looked over at Lucas and frowned.
"I'm sure they'll like you. Who wouldn't?" Lucas grinned.
"Really? You think so?" Riley gave Lucas a hopeful smile.
"Yeah, they'd be crazy not to." Lucas reached out and brushed a piece of hair out of her face.
Riley nodded. "That's reassuring."
Lucas shrugged. "I do my best. Now, go back to sleep. You have a long day ahead of you."
