Loving Lucy (On hold)

Chapter Two

                                                                              5 1/2 years later....

Life has been so amazing for me.  I am now an ER nurse I have a beautiful daughter named Lucy.  She is my whole world.  She is so great.  I couldn't ask for a better life.  I couldn't wait until i got off from work so Anna and I could go to our 10 year class reunion.   Most of my friends moved away after high school.   I was so excited to get to see all of my old friends.  

"Earth to Melanie!"  Jericka said waving her hand in front of my face.  "Girl you was in a whole other world."

"Oh sorry Jericka.   I am really just so excited to get to go to my school reunion with Anna tonight.  I get to have a  night with friends that I haven't seen in like forever.  I get to dress up and let my hair down.   Do you know how long it has been since I got to do that."  I couldn't hide my excitement.

"Well your shift is up.   You go get dressed and have a blast.  You work so hard for that beautiful baby girl of yours.  Go have fun you deserve it."  I walked around to the computer and clocked out.

"l'll  see you later."   I said heading out to my car.

"Mama you look so pretty!  So do you Aunt Anna.  Meme and Poppie told me that they are taking me to the movies to see a cartoon and then they are taking me to McDonald's for a happy meal!"  Lucy said practically bouncing up and down in excitement. 

"That is awesome Lucy!  Now where is Aunt Anna's hug."  Lucy ran and jumped into Anna's arms giggling at Anna who was tickling her.

"Okay Lucy you be sure to be good for Meme and Poppie and don't forget to brush your teeth  before bed.  I will be back later tonight so you go on to bed with Meme and I'll see you in the morning when you wake up.  Now be good and give me a big hug."  I leaned down and hugged her tightly swinging her in a circle.  "My cup runneth over.  Go watch the upside down show until Meme and Poppie are ready to go okay."  With that Lucy bound out of the room.

"Melanie  go have fun and don't worry about Lucy she is going to have a blast.  I want you two to go to that reunion and get reunited  with your old friends."   Mama gave me a big hug and walked Anna and I to the door.

"I can't wait to see my old friends.  I hope Mick comes I haven't seen him since his Dad died seven years ago.  We all lost touch with each other."

"Me too.  He was always so funny.   Remember when we all went to the lake and he made us think he saw an alligator in the water so we would freak out."  We got in the car and rolled the top back on Anna's camero and yelled goodbye to Mama as we drove off.

It was so awesome seeing everybody again.  I looked everywhere but I couldn't find Mick.  Monica Miller stood up at the mic and said.  "I am so glad we all made it  tonight.  I would like you all to know out of the class of 2000 we have  two professional football stars Paul Woods who now plays for the Saints and Rick Roberts who plays for the Giants.  We also have a Doctor  in the house David Holt and quite a few nurses and we have a #1 Contemporary Christian Artist who will share a couple songs with us in just a few.   I am so excited to see all of you and am so thankful we have almost all of our classmates here with us and can't wait for our twenty year reunion.  Cheers to the class of 2000.  Now I am proud to reintroduce you to Mick Jackson #1 top ten Christian artist of the year."

"Mel did she just say Mick! Our Mick!"  Anna asked as Mick walked onto the stage with a mic in his hand.

"Oh my goodness!   It's been seven years since I have seen Mick.  Wow!"  I was in awe he was not bad looking before but now he was so handsome.  He was so muscular with wavy black hair and he was taller had on a black button up shirt with a white cross on the front pocket and a pair of dark blue jeans and black boots.  He looked straight at me smiled and waved at me.  "Hello class of 2000!"  He yelled into the mic.  "I know we look different and some of us have drifted apart but here we are back together again and I couldn't be more happy.  Well after my father died I went to Tennessee to live and I got away from family and friends.   I shut out everyone and lived recklessly.  Two years ago I was almost killed because I was drinking and driving and hit a tree.  I was in a coma and they gave my family no hope.  God had other plans for me.  I want to just say that we aren't promise tomorrow so now we are all  with friends so lets all try to keep in touch and always try to be there for one another.    Again I am so glad to see you guys.  Now I will sing a couple songs for you I hope you enjoy."  Mike began to sing and I was in shock. It was so beautiful.  I couldn't believe that this was my old best friend.   Anna, Mick and I were like the 3 amigos.  We did almost everything together.

"Mel are you as shocked as me?  I mean we was best friends for like forever and I didn't even know he could sing."  I looked at Anna with this shocked look on my face.  Before  I could speak Mick stopped singing and made his was downstage and was heading toward Anna and I.

"Melanie, Anna it is so good to see you both.  I was hoping to see you guys.  I don't go on tour for two weeks and was hoping to catch up with yall while I was in town with my mom."  Mick hugged us both in a bear hug.  He was even more handsome up close.  I had never even thought of Mick like that but I couldn't deny the spark I felt when he hugged me. 

"We would love to!  Mel and I are nurses in the ER now.  I've been working days so I can meet up with you two after five any afternoon."  Anna was so funny she was as shocked as I was. 

"Yeah I am off for two days so I can meet up with you anytime. We have so much to catch up on.   I was shocked to see you up there.   I didn't know you could sing.  That was beautiful."

We all exchanged numbers and everyone was leaving so Mick walked us to  Anna's car.  "Can I see you in the morning Melanie?"  Mick looked at me with the sweetest smile on his face.

"Yeah but I'll have to bring my little girl Lucy with me.  I promised her ice cream and a few games at Chucky Cheese's we could catch up while she plays if you don't mind."

"I didn't know you had a little girl! How old is she?"  He looked kind of alittle shocked and confused.

"Oh Mick you have to meet her she is so adorable! She is five years old.  She will love you." Anna spoke up before I had a chance.

"If  had plans with your husband and daughter we could meet up some other time." He looked a little nervous all of the sudden.

"Oh no I am not married Lucy's father took off when he found out I was pregnant.  It is just the two of us.  Anna and my parents help me allot."  I don't know why I felt so nervous.  I have known Mick since we were babies our self.  Now it was different somehow.

"Oh well great! How about I treat you and your daughter to a pizza at Chucky's before taking her for ice cream?  I could pick you up around 11:30."  Mick seemed to relax and had a huge smile on his face.

"I'll see you then.  I'll be at Mama's so you can pick us up there."   We said our goodbyes and Anna took me to mama's and dropped me off.  We couldn't believe how much Mick had changed.  I didn't know what it was about him but I really liked the new Mick.
