There was never anything more that I hated than when people take forever changing in the locker rooms. This is high school people! You're not going to prom, it's just math class.
I make my way over to my locker, trying to avoid all the moving bodies, to actually grab my math book. I'm annoyed and it doesn't help that mother nature stopped by this morning to say hello. Just as I open my locker, a cold hand grabs my wrist startling me.
"Nate," I breathed out.
"I was waiting for you baby," He's still holding my wrist a little tight. "I thought we were going to meet by the quad wall, like we always do."
"Crap, I forgot. These stupid girls always tak-"
"Take forever to get dressed," he says interrupting me. He scoffs as he says,"Yeah I've heard that before." His gaze goes down to his shoes. And his hand is still on my wrist. I lean against my locker and let out a sigh.
"Just say what you're thinking Nate."
"You always blame those girls. What does them taking forever have to do with you? They don't dress you. So why would it take you so long that you leave me hanging?" He finally meets my gaze and that's when I realized that he's right. Crap he's right, and I'm a terrible girlfriend. "Look Em, if you wanna break thin-"
"What?" Now it's my turn to interrupt. I grab his hand that holds my wrist and interlace our fingers with one hand, while my other hand goes to his cheek. "Don't be crazy Nate, hey look at me. I love you okay? You're right this is all my fault I should just not care about it alright? Girls are stupid."
"You sure you don't need a break Em? I get it if you get tired of me. It's been more than a year now and I don't-."
"No! Look I'll work on it okay?" I give him a reassuring smile and he leans down to kiss me. God I love it when he does that, he makes my stomach flip every time he smiles.
"Come I'll walk you to your class."
I grab my textbook and notebook before I close my locker. He takes my hand and that's when I realized his hands are still cold. His hands are only cold when...
"Hey did you take your vitamins this morning?"
"Uh, yeah I did. Well I forgot, but Eric reminded me when I picked him up for practice this morning." He scratches the back of his neck, he only does that when he lies.
No, no he won't lie to me. He knows I hate it when he lies, he would never do anything to hurt me.

"No!" I sit up straight, panting. I struggle to catch my breath.
It was just a dream. It was just a dream. It was just a dream.
No it felt too real. The memory of him. Everything was real, I remember it like it was just yesterday.
Get a grip of yourself, Emma! It was four years ago.
