Katherine Daren is a normal nine year-old girl. She lives with her parents in a small house in the middle of their town. Her father or Paps as she calls him, is a very busy man. She doesn't know what he works as but he comes home at night and works only during the weekdays. Her mother stays at home to take care of her and make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kathy sometimes helps her mother out.
Just like any nine year-old, she wakes up in the mornings, gets ready for school and have breakfast before going. She usually has bread and strawberry jam. Then, she walks to school which is quite near. There is nobody at school she could call friends. At the most, acquaintances. She's not really good at making friends since she is quiet all the time. School ends at three o'clock and she comes home and does whatever she wants 'till night time. Her life was boring.
She needs a friend. Everyone thinks so. She doesn't want one until one day..... Lucy happened.
