CHAPTER ONE--SCHOOL
The only thing i could think of right now was to get away and to my safe haven, my personal little garden. No one other than me knew about it, they wouldn't even believe it if i told them, because its the same story. The world is dead on the outside, nothing grew here or out there. But to me it was alive, more then the city itself with the sound of factories at work and the occasional groaning of machines.
Out there was what-ever was beyond the concrete wall lined with wire and soldiers, that kept us from 'harm'. The wall spanned from for miles and miles and that was all the eye could see. From the ground the sky was almost impossible to see, the wall hid the view and so did the buildings that seemed to grow on forever.
Sometimes i wished that we could be free to roam the lands outside even if we'd have to wear space suits. Other times i think it was foolish ,war was foolish and because of war we were here today living in the shadows and the last 300 or so acres of fertile land on the planet.
My pencil tapped against the cheap plastic desk, making a tick-tick sound. My books were scatted on the tiny desktop, as if i were studying along with the rest of the class.I stared absently out the the small window above Ms. Paine's head, looking at the clear blue sky which i rarely saw. Sunshine streamed in through the tiny window, bathing the classroom in a warm aura.
I turned my attention Ms. Paine and her drone like voice reciting the same script of pages she must have read off from dozens of times. Ms.Paine was a withered old lady in her late 50's, who couldn't retire because apparently there is no other history teacher to replace her. However it's not like anybody needs to study history, due to the fact all they ever teach us is about the annihilation of the planet. Though in any and all of the history book s all it ever stated and pointed out the near extinction of the human race, but otherwise we never studied anything before the eclipse as they called it.
I saw no point in mourning over past mistakes, its not like somebody as stupid or better a fucking retard is going to show up and bomb the planet again. Its better to help with fertilization process, instead of spending four hours in school, we could be using those hours to help with adding the fertilizing as they called it.
