f o u r; starving

Erin was about to give up. She was shivering and cold, and her leg had blood dripping all the way down it.
But then, she smelled something. Something delicious.
Did she have money?
She reached deep into her pocket and fished out one five dollar bill and two twenties. She quietly high-fived herself,
smiling. She hadn't eaten in two days.
She ran towards the smell, leaves crunching underfoot. It was a smell F chicken and perhaps soup, which reminded her of her mother's old clam chowder.
Erin hadn't even said I love you before she left... little had she known it would be the last time she'd see her mother's face.
The smell finally led her to a small cottage called "Liana's Place." Erin very much admired the architecture; there were stained class windows and beautiful dark oak double doors. The roof was beautifully built with a long sun roof. The door creaked slightly as Erin opened it, and the small restaurant reminded her of home. There was a bay window with teal pillows and a vanilla scented candle. There were small, white bears with top hats atop an antique round table. The seats had soft white cushions with silk threaded through it's chair legs.
"Hello! How may I help you?"
"Hi! Table for one, please?"
The lady was a very short elderly woman, but her hair was short and a lively brown. She wore a small purple woven dress with small black glasses.
"Would you like some bread?"
"Yes, please!"
Erin's stomach grumbled. She must have lost a few pounds in the past few days of no eating; her ribs were partially showing.
The lady came back.
"Hi- I forgot to ask what you're name was?"
"I'm Ellie. And you are?"
"I'm Erin."
"Oh, honey.. it looks like you haven't showered at all in the past weeks."
Erin sighed. "I haven't. I'm lost."
"After you eat, there's a shower in the back. I'll give you this meal for free, so knock yourself out."
"Can I have clam chowder and two hamburgers, please?"
"Sure! It'll be out soon."
"Thank you!"
Erin sighed of relief. The smell of the small cottage was overwhelming; it filled her nose and made her feel warm.
She looked down at her plate full of bread and told herself not to eat too fast. She wondered if she could box up the stuff that she didn't eat.
Erin rolled her hair between her fingers in boredom. Suddenly, someone shoved Erin's chair to the floor.
"Ouch!" Erin yelled and looked up.
It was a guy in black jeans and a grey shirt. He had deep brown eyes and dark brown hair.
He held out his hand.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to.. please excuse me, I'm so tired."
"It's okay." Erin said, getting up.
Erin gave him a broad smile, and he smiled back. She sat back into her chair, her eyes never leaving him.
Erin's ombré hair flowed over her shoulders. There were so many snarls in her hair.. she was happy knowing she could get rid of them soon.
She sighed in relief as Ellie came out with the clam chowder and her hamburgers.
"Thank you so much!"
The smell filled her nose and she smiled at herself.
She took a bite of the clam chowder, and her eyes widened in surprise. It was just like her mother's. It was creamy and delectable; just the perfect balance between salt and pepper. There was a wonderful aftertaste, and Erin savored it as much as she could.
Then to the hamburgers she went. She only ate one, but she recalled it being juicy and, it had the perfect amount of chewiness.
She sat back in her chair once more, about to fall asleep. Her long, thick eyelashes fluttered as her eyes slowly closed.
She then remembered. Her shower!
She got up from her seat and began to speed walk to the back of the room to the small bathroom, but big shower. She closed and locked the door and stripped down to her socks, which she took off, too. And then, she turned on the water to the perfect temperature and stepped in. The warm water ran down her back and into her hair, tension releasing into cyberspace. Erin closed her eyes and shifted back and forth between her feet. She combed out her hair slowly, getting out every knot. She then used shampoo and conditioner, and then sat on the floor of the shower for a little while, letting the warm water really sink in.
When she finally stepped out of the shower, she felt clean and happy. She quickly got back into her clothes and went outside to find the boy still sitting there looking at her. Erin sat back down awkwardly, shivering slightly.
It was cold outside.
But Erin needed sleep.
So, that's what she got.

Tyler's POV
I quietly walk over to her and look at her face. She has a beautifully structured nose and her eyes are a soft amber brown with golden flecks. She has freckles lining her cheeks, and her cheek is a light, rosy color. Her lips are a very pastel pink, and I can tell she has no makeup on. She is beautiful.
I'm about to leave, but I know I'll never see her again. So I sit down next to her and scribble my number on her hand.
Third Person View
Erin woke up in a haze, her hair finally being dry. She was much less tired and she felt as though she were light headed, but she knew she needed to leave.
"Thank you, Ellie!" Erin exclaimed, slowly walking out of the door. She then proceeded back into the woods, her stomach full and her hair clean. Erin began to sprint in the direction she had been running before, and she knew she was going to get to a village eventually.

It flew all around the forest, searching for the girl. Where was she? After this test, it had been clear to it; she was the chosen one.
She is the girl who was meant to try and kill it.
But it had to kill her first.
How had she done it? Outrun a bear, jump in a river, and escape into the next area of trees. It seemed impossible.
Normally, nobody could outrun it.
But it was time to make sure the chosen girl couldn't get away.
