The opening was only big enough for one of us. No matter how hard you try to squeeze.
"Newt, you need to get in there!! I'll lead the thing away! Just trust me!" I pushed newt up to the vines and he tried to refuse.
"Y/n, you're smaller, if that thing got a hold of you-" I didn't let him finish,
"You're the hurt one! I have a running chance. Now Go!"
He seemed to think it over and he started to climb, relying on his arm strength. I waited until he was in the slot before I turned to run, his eyes were full of guilt, but I turned and came face-to-face with the creature again.
I wiped sweat off my face and stuck my tongue out at it teasing it and it screeched. I turned on my heels and high-tailed it, twisting and turning to get away, prepared to jump onto a wall and climb at any instance.
Before I knew it I was back at where I started. Running in circles, but suddenly, the thing stopped. It screeched and turned around as if nothing happened.
