Halloween Everyday

People don't change
Personalities shift
Images of ours, locked in a cage
Cold and enraged
You and yourself
Are on the wrong page

Always self-aware
Making ourselves ignorant
We cannot expect ourselves
(Or trust ourselves)
To even see one's reflection

We can't but distort it
What we see in the glass
And what we act like in class
The image we pass
Is not us
By any measure

We are nothing of substance
We are nothing concrete

We are blind to ourselves
Judgmentally inclined
Fact is, the truth isn't yours
And it certainly isn't mine
