Fifteen-Dollar Vacation

An orange cherry
The organic bitterness
Packaged escape
Hopeful distraction

A shake of the joints
A nervous cackle
The sign of arrival
A pleasant realization

More, please
Hazy consciousness
Sour never tasted so sweet
Slip away

Limbs disconnected
Hanging loosely
Worth the trouble
A mild existence

Focus shifting
Worries subside
An excursion into the depths
Of what makes us feel

5 minutes have passed
The fall continues
All the way down the well
A subtle rabbit hole

No reason to stop
Or break the fall
Muscles relax
Eyes close

Reaching the stars
Ascent comes to a close
But the trip wears on
Hopping form sun to sun

No notion of location
Continue to wander
Lost in space
Time dissolves

Alone?
Accompanied?
It matters not
Not at all

Split in two
Half in one spot
Half in another
Never before felt so whole

Been here before
Surroundings unrecognizable
Walking through reality
Wrapped in a dream

Incredible scenery
Incredible sensation
Individual moments of joy
Individual harmony

Eyes must be dilated
So much more to see
So much more to more detail
Almost too much to focus on

The shifts in light
The movement of the cars
The sound of the highway
The presence of the stars

Yet to find anything
Akin to that lonely feeling
Inside to yourself
Play life from a safe distance

1 hour has passed
2 hours...
3...
It matters naught

The feeling is worth years
But comes much cheaper
I'll gladly sink
Into my fifteen-dollar vacation
