Today was an unusally loud day at work with what seemed to be most groups of friends in New York deciding to gather at my work before heading out for the night. I usually stay away from the big groups of people and luckily my co-workers are some of my bestfriends and will always help me out.
After what seemed to be an eternity most of the obnoxious groups had left for a night out in the big city. I sat counting the seconds on the clock until my shift was over, until a group of four around 40 year old men came in which is genuinely quite weird to see being as most the groups that come in here are all in their mid-twenties or early thirties at the lastest. I looked around to see where Emma was, but she was busy serving a young couple who had just walked in so i knew i had to take this one for her. I took one more look over to where they had sat whilst reaching to collect the menus to take over when i realised who infact these men were.
Grabbing the four menus i counted back from ten in my head and when i reached one i was stood infront of four staring eyes. "Hi welcome to Joeys i will be your waitress for the night" i said quietly whilst handing them the large menus. I was just about to turn around to walk back to the bar when i realised i had completely forgot something "oh sorry" i stuttered, "what drinks would you like i'll bring them over whilst you decide what you want to eat?"
"I was begining to think you were never going to ask" the tall larger man whispered sarcastically.
"Lighten up asshole you don't know how long she's been working today! I apologise for my friends attitude he's had a bad day today. I'll take a Jameson on the rocks please" i just managed to catch what he said through mentally cursing myself out after being extremely embarassed by what had been said by his friend. When i did finally came back to earth i noticed just how handsome the man who was now speaking was. My perfect type a fair bit older, long hair and a shaggy beard what my friends call
"Okay thats one Jameson and i take it a large one for your friend as i'm guessing Sal has been punished today?" The whole table suddenly started laughing "Yes i'll have a LARGE whiskey and i don't want to talk about it" Sal replied causing more laughter to erupt from the table.
"Okay and the next two drinks?" I asked quickly changing the subject as i didn't want to sound like a crazed fan which i really aren't i just know the show. "One pint and and a coke for my non drinking friend please" Murr replied pointing towards Joe.
"Well thats one normal Jameson, one large, a coke and a pint. I'll be right back with them and to take your order" As started to turn around i noticed that the man who defended me earlier who was known as 'Q' on the show was staring at me intently seeming to take in every detail. I could feel my face turn an intense shade of red when we locked eyes and i thought he'd just play it off as if he was looking elsewhere, but instead he kept looking then shot a wink my way. He wanted me to know what he was doing.
An hour had passed since the four men had came through the door and in that time they had, well i say they had it was mainly Q, me over to the table five times to bring them drinks each time he tried to make small talk with me, but i knew i didn't want to give any impressions to him not with the way i live my life.
Five minutes left and my shift would finally be over, but i wasn't going to make that known especially to Q. I brought them their latest drink order over to them "So where abouts in England are you from?" He asked as i handed the drinks out "Somewhere in the North East no where you would know" i replied bluntly it sounded a lot better in my head and now i just sound like an asshole.
"Hey you never know i mean i've travelled a lot" This man was not giving up. I'm not giving in this easy i thought to myself "Okay Mr Traveller" i said sarcastically "A little seaside town around 45 minutes away from Newcastle. If you can ever figure out the name i'll give you free drinks if you ever come back" i should not have said that now it seems like i want him to think about me and have another encounter with him here. Fuck. "I'll remember what you just said and hold you to it!!!" He exclaimed as i walked away little did he know he won't catch me for a while.
My 10 hour shift was now over and i couldn't wait any longer to have a smoke. I hung up my apron, work jacket and hat and put my own jacket on. Just as I was about to leave Emma came through the back for one last conversation "I can't believe the Impractical Jokers are sat right there. Brian Quinn is sat in our resturant with the rest of the guys!" I just shrugged I really don't think of celebrities as any different to the rest of us. Just usually bigger assholes. At least these guys seem to be a lot nicer. "Oh my god Low i nearlly forgot have a good time, i'm sure we'll talk anyway! 3 weeks without you here is going to be tough" she said taking me into a hug even though she knew i don't do physical contact a lot for her 3 weeks without me was a lot. We said our goodbyes and i waited for her to get to their table before making a swift exit. I was never good with goodbyes.
