Chapter 9 Sectionals

So here's what you missed on Glee. Mr Shue set the New Directions on a duet assignment to create a music video. Kitty and Marley recreated a Miley Cyrus video. Jake and Aaron went all broken down music by Lorde. Whereas Liam and Ryder went emotional with Monster by Eminem and Rihanna which won them the competition. Ryder joked by saying it was their first date, and Ryder confirmed that in all certainty.

Liam rolled over in his bed on Friday morning feeling like crap. He had been up all night throwing up. Which meant he missed the movie last night. Liam looked to his left, to get the fright of his life. Ryder bare chest in pyjama bottoms. He was flicking through a magazine.
"Ryder what are you doing here?" Liam enquired sitting up.
"Well you called me to tell me you cancelled our 'date' so I came over to look after you. You said your parents are in New York until Christmas so I got worried" Ryder replied.
"And you're bare chest because?" Liam laughed.
"This room needed a view" Ryder replied not ever batting his eyes or looking away from his magazine. Liam snorted.
"Well...I guess you're right" Liam replied. He got up and pulled his top off, revealing his muscular frame and slight abs.
"Mine are more impressive" Liam replied. Ryder was paralysed. He couldn't take his eyes off Liam's bare torso. Liam went over to his closet and pulled out a black top and grey wool track suit bottoms.
"Don't you need boxers as well?" Ryder laughed.
"Please I'm going commando" Liam snorted before leaving the room. Ryder's jaw dropped, he felt his face redden and other effects on his body to happen. He heard the shower come on. Ryder peered into the bathroom to see the shorts Liam was previously wearing thrown on the floor. Which meant Liam was completely naked not two metres away from Ryder.
"So why didn't you just go to the movie without me?" Liam enquired. Ryder leant against the the doorframe of the bathroom door.
"That'd be tacky. Plus it wouldn't be right without you there" Ryder replied.
"We'll have to reschedule for after sectionals then" Liam says. The smile crept back onto Ryder's face. He got an actual date with Liam Anderson.
"Yeah sure...maybe we could have dinner as well?" Ryder suggested without being too obvious.
"Are you trying to woo me Mr Lynn?" Liam laughed. Ryder went red again.
"No...what...please... ever in my days...human rights" Ryder started stuttering and shouting out random phrases he thought were relevant.
"Ryder you're spiralling" Liam laughed. Ryder felt quite content with himself just sitting talking with Liam but he wanted nothing more than to be in that shower with Liam. He wasn't ready to admit to everyone that he thought he was gay but he was finally ready to admit it to himself. All he knew was that it hurt...looking at him hurt. He was only inches away, touching distance. If he touched though, the awkward tension between would burn. He knew that he would never be able to stop looking or touching. Even if he lost him. Liam was a magnet, drawing every aspect of Ryder's being towards him. Liam Anderson was his only kryptonite. After months of awkward tension he was ready to admit his love. Who he really was.

Finally it came time for sectionals. Everyone except Liam was sat in the audience of the Dalton Academy auditorium, Liam was at home ill and wasn't attending todays competition, luckily you only needed a twelve man team for sectionals. The Warblers had just finished their performance. The boys were wearing in light blue long sleeves shirts with dark blue ties, black pants and black shoes. The girls in dark blue dresses, light blue hair bands and stilettos.
"And now from Akron Ohio the CrossVocals" the host announced in his deep booming voice. The curtain raised revealing girls in bright yellow dresses.

"All:

"Oh crap we're screwed, they used on of our songs" Kitty bitched. Ryder could see this ending really badly.

Liam walked into the Dalton Academy auditorium in his uniform. He had the sleeves rolled up and his tie loose though. Ryder had forbade him to even consider showing up to the competition. He hurried down to the New Directions. Ryder gave him a death glare when he saw him. So he pulled Liam aside.
"I told you to stay home. I'll set Blaine on you" Ryder warned while shaking his head. Liam stumbled a little but balanced himself by holding onto Ryder's arms.
"I'm fine. Plus you need a new song because the other team did Wild Heart" Liam explained. He was ducking behind Ryder so not to be seen by Blaine. But it was too late. Blaine was already storming towards him.
"You should be at home resting. You can't perform in your state" Blaine says also giving him the stern head shake.
"I'm fine. Here's the game plan...Ryder tell Jake Rock Of Ages dance three. He'll know what to do. Blaine teach the backing vocals of this song to everyone..." Liam explained. He handed the sheet music over to Blaine. Both of them thought it was a bad idea for Liam to perform. Ryder leant in closer to Liam.
"Are you sure about this?" Ryder whispered. Liam nodded.
"I'm fine..." Liam replied, he wasn't really convincing anyone. No one wanted to disagree with him. No one dared. Ryder sighed, telling Ryder had given in to Liam.
"The moment I think somethings about to happen...I'm getting you out of here" Ryder explained.
"Even if we lose sectionals?" Liam enquired.
"You mean a lot more to me than a trophy" Ryder replied. Their eyes locked again, this time the emotion was overflowing. Ryder leant forward, Liam positioned his head so as not to clash with Ryder's forehead. Ryder stopped inches away from Liam, he felt his hot minty breath on his lips.
"A lot more" Ryder breathed before gently placing his lips on Liam's. Liam felt fireworks going off as Ryder placed his hands on Liam's cheeks. Time stopped around him, like the New Directions weren't there, like the crowd weren't there, like Blaine wasn't there. Oh crap Blaine was there. Liam pulled away to see Blaine with his mouth hung open. Oh shit.

"And now...from Lima,Ohio. The McKinley High" the host announced the applause told Liam that Grace and Riley were about to start, he was standing at the back of the auditorium. A spot light fell on Ryder.

"Riley:

All three teams gathered back on the stage after a half an hour tense decision process.
"And now...for the esteemed judges. Miss Ohio State Caroline Fisher, Local News Hero Rob Salesman, and Ohio's own master chef Chef Councilman" the host announced. The three judges came centre stage with three envelopes. The first envelope was opened.
"In third place...The CrossVocals" the host announced. The CrossVocals left the stage looking all disappointed. The two remaining teams moved closer together.
"And now...your central Ohio sectional show choir champions are..." they began. Liam hated this part. The awkward tension that seemed to last for hours. Liam gripped a tight hold on Riley left hand and Adam's right.
"...The..." Liam was going to punch this guy in a minute.
"...McKinley High New Directions" the host announced. The winning team swarmed around the host with the trophy. They had won, they would now be competing in sectionals.
