The next morning Demi woke up to see Jason laying in her bed next to her. She smiled as he opened his eyes. "Good morning beautiful," he said and smiled back.
"Good morning handsome," she said.
"Did you sleep well?" Jason asked, rubbing his eyes and sitting up.
"I slept very well with you by my side, Jason." she said.
He smiled that beautiful smile that Demi knew so well. She scooted closer to him and snuggled up to him letting him wrap his strong arms around her.
"Run away with me Demi," Jason said.
"What?"
"Run away with me, we'll get out of here, get you away from your dad and we'll be happy."
"Jason....I....I can't, I love you but do you know what would happen to me if he found us?"
"So, we'll go far far away, he'll never find us, you'll be safe."
"Jason, this is crazy! I can't believe you even thought this was a good idea!"
"It is a good idea Demi, it's the perfect idea."
"How will we eat, how will we live?"
"My mom, if we explain it to her, I just know she'll support us!"
"And what if she doesn't then what?"
"Don't you want to get out of this place Demi?"
"I do, you know I do, but I can't just pack up and leave my life."
"What life Demi? Your dad controls your every waking moment!"
She sat silently for a moment and thought about what it would be like to live with Jason, as far away from her father as possible.
"Demi, think about it, we could finally be together away from your dad and nobody could say anything." Jason said looking at her with loving eyes.
"Let's go talk to your mom," Demi said, "but I'm not telling her about how my dad....you know."
"As long as you tell her about how he beats you, I don't want you to think you have to tell her everything,"
"Let's go," Demi said grabbing her purse,
"Really?" he asked.
"Yes, I want to leave, run away, I'm sick of being abused."
They walked out the door to Jason's car and went to his house. They walked in the house and sat down on the couch. "Wait here, I'll go get my mom." he said. She looked around the room looking at pictures of Jason as a baby and thinking to herself "this must be what it's like to have a happy childhood."
Demi picked up a picture of Jason holding a frog in his hand with a huge smile on his face. She said to herself, "he looks so happy." She smiled down at the picture and thought about how them running away would take Jason away from his family.
Jason came back in the room, "Jason, I don't want to do this."
"Why, Demi?" She held up the picture, "you have a great family and if we ran away I would be taking you from them.
"Demi, I understand why you have to do this," Jason's mother said as she walked into the room.
"But..."
"No, honey, now, tell me what's going on."
