Chapter thirteen

"I lay on my bed sobbing. The love of my life just walked out the door. I heard pounding on my door. "Stephanie what's wrong open the door" Jake says. "No go away" I sob. I hear Brayden cry on the other side of my door. I'm a mom and I will not let a broken heart get in the way of my son. I get up and stomp to open the door. "What?!" I huff grabbing Brayden and kissing his head. "I'm asking you that, you look like a mess" he says brushing my hair out of my eyes. "Sis what's wrong?" My brother ask walking up behind Jake. "Steve will you take Brayden for awhile so I can explain things to Jake?" I ask practically beg him. "Sure, c'mon little man mommy and daddy need to talk" he says taking Brayden down stairs.

Jake sits on my bed and pulls me onto his lap. "What's wrong Steph?" He ask rubbing my back. "Jake, Kevin left me" I cry harder. I miss him already. "I lose every guy I like, I'm never good enough for them I am so done trying" I say pulling my hair. "You didn't lose me honey it's okay Kevin will be back" he says hugging me. "Yes I did Jake you don't love me anymore, our family was torn apart because I fell in love with your best friend then he leaves me now I don't have either of the guys I love" I say whipping my tears. "When I told you I'd love you forever I meant it, I can't stop loving the mother of my son" he said kissing my forehead. "No Jake we can't just go back to being all lovey dovey cause both our hearts were just broken it won't work" I say quietly. "Nobody ever said we had to be together, I'm just here for you" he says pulling me closer if that was possible. "And I'm here for you" I say kissing his cheek. "Now lets take a nap while Steve has Brayden, your really stressed out" he says laying down on my bed.

I wake up to my phone ringing. It's Kevin, I have to answer and pretend I'm okay.

"Hello" "How are you?" "I'm great how are you? Did you make it yet?" "We're you crying?" "No I just woke up from a nap" "okay, don't you cry over me. I'm not worth it. Trust me" "okay I hope you have fun, I miss you" "I miss you too hey I gotta go I'll call later." "Okay" "before I go I wrote you a note it's on your dresser under your jewelry box read it when we hang up I love you bye" "bye"

I hang up the phone and go get the note. Jake is awake sitting up watching me. I unfold the note and inside is written.

'Dear Stephanie,

I am beyond sorry for hurting you. I just called to check on you. And I know you good enough to know you were crying. I want you to know I love you so much honey don't cry. Madison also left Jake alone and I know he's hurt he may not show it but he is. Help him, comfort him, let him help you. Madison and I talked and we decided you two should be together since we can't be there. You two need to raise that handsome son of yours and be proud parents. When I come back I want to see you happy. I want to see that smile, I want to see you living life to the fullest. I seriously love you to the moon and back. Tell Jake to call me when you read this. Thank you so much for your support and love. I am smiling right now knowing your reading this. I love you Steph.

I fold the letter back up and sink to the floor and hold it to my chest. "Jake call Kevin he wants you to call him" I tell jake as he stares blankly at me. I grab my phone and text Kevin 'I will do everything on the note just for you. Your so sweet I wish you were here to give me a hug, your literally my best friend' he instantly text back 'thanks sweetie! I left my hoodie on your kitchen chair you can keep it. Your my best friend too alright I gotta go talk to Jake' I lock my phone and go check on Brayden who is sleeping on Steve's bed. "Go I am staying with him tonight" Steve says shooing me away. "Thanks love you bud" I say smiling. I grab Kevin's hoodie and hug it tightly. I run to my room and Jake's standing there in tears with his arms open, "come here right now" he says whipping his tears. I run into his arms. "Kevin said I had to help you love you care for you and watch over you and that's what I'll do and I'll be damned if I'm going to break your heart again" Jake says hugging me tightly. "Jacob I love you thanks" I say smiling. "There's that smile we all want to see, I love you too Stephanie your welcome" he says kissing me and we lay down on my bed and I cuddle in to his side.
