"But mommy what does it mean? Why do I have to wear it?" young 7 year old Tyler Joseph asked his mother. He was a very curious boy but somehow everything always led back to that one thing. His ring. It was part of a circle with a thick dash through it. But on the inside of the dash it was just black.

"Tyler, sweetie. It's just for looks."

"Then why won't it come off? Why can you and daddy take yours off but mine won't?"

"It's just something the special nurses give us when we are born. And hopefully, Tyler. Yours will never need to come off." His mother explained slowly so he would understand.

"But why wo-"

"No, Tyler no more. It's time for bed" and with that he tried to sleep but still couldn't get his mind off why his ring was black, and his parents were a bright green. And why Jenna's parents were sky blue, and Melanie's parents were pink. But as he thought less, his mind drifted into a peaceful slumber.

10 years later

"I just think it's awkward how no one can say anything about the rings, like what's so good about them anyways and why is yours yellow, Jenna?" Tyler asked as he stuffed his face with the weird slop they call food at his school.

"Tyler I can't say, I would tell you if I knew, but I legit honestly don't know. Just know that it's sometimes it's a good thing to learn things on your own." Jenna half smiled.
"Anyways did you hear about that new kid? His name is jimmy? I don't know but he should be here, he has pink hair I know that much." Jenna spoke softly. Her voice was very soft to begin with, especially when she whispers sometimes you can't even hear her.

"Oh. That kid? I seen him today. Which reminds me I helped him with his schedule today and we have 7th hour together, so I'll see him after lunch."

"Is he hot?" Jenna asked with a smirk on her face.

"I mean he was kinda cute but he isn't like a dime or anything." Tyler said in a 'duh' tone.

"Whatever, tell me how he is okay? Ya dork." and with that the bell rang.

Tyler's next class was English, He wasn't very good at writing anything except about what he feels, he can't focus on anything else usually. And Tyler typically sits in the back so he can do just that.

As Tyler was about to sit down he realized that that kid was sitting in his seat, and Tyler being the introvert that he is, decided on just sitting next to him in the back.

"Hey, um. Do you have a pen or like pencil I could borrow dude?" The mysterious jimmy guy asked, Tyler wishes he would have asked for the guy's name earlier.

"Uh. Yeah I guess." Tyler dug in his backpack and found his red pencil. It wasn't his favorite but it was his second favorite. His first favorite is his blue pencil. Blue is his favorite color, but red would definitely come in second.

"Here" Tyler handed the boy the pencil.

"Sick, reds my favorite color. I'm Joshua by the way, Joshua Dun, but I prefer Josh." He smiled as he stuck out his hand to shake, but the one peculiar thing was his ring almost looked like Tyler's. The same circular shape and line.

Tyler decided to take his hand to shake because it's only the kind thing to do.
"I'm Tyler Joseph" he smiled shyly.

But that's all they said to each other the whole hour and in what felt like a second, school was out. But he still couldn't get why his ring looked so similar. No ones rings looked similar except his parents, but he seen that when they could even stand staying in the same room together, but I guess couples fight, right? He shook this thought off. He still needs to get homework done because grades are a big part of graduating and that is something Tyler plans on doing.

"Hey mom I'm home!" Tyler yelled while closing the front door.

"Hey how was school, kid?" His mom asked curiously.

"It was good, I'm going to go get homework done, is that okay?" Tyler asked while grabbing an orange.

"That would be just fine, Tyler?" His mother said in a questioning tone.

"Yeah?"

"Yo-your ring." She said while staring at her sons ring.

Tyler looked down and seen his ring was red, the exact same shade of red of the pencil he gave Josh, little did he know that Josh's ring was too, a different color. Tyler's favorite color to be exact.
