A/N: The romance begins!
Working together seemed like a terrible idea. The ride to Balmera was silent. Neither boy had anything to say. What was there to discuss anyway? They were enemies- they never got along, how were they supposed to work together?
Approaching the planet, the paladins prepared to enter the atmosphere and turn on thrust to land gently on the surface. It was Lance who got out first. Ahead of the boys lay the lip of a crater, aimed straight down to the quarry below.
"Looks like we're going to need to belay down. I'm not risking taking my lion down there in Galran territory." Keith said.
"Yeah okay." Lance muttered, knowing that his fellow paladin had a point.
Keith set a pin to anchor his line in a crevice of rock and began to belay himself down, Lance attempting to parkour down the ledges in a near suicidal fashion. Regardless of style the boys reached the bottom at the same time.
Entering the Galran territory was tricky. The pair crouched low and sprinted from rock to rock inside the quarry. Set inside the cavern was the ideal Balmeran stone. Lance turned on his crouched legs to Keith. He made wild hand gestures pointing to the stone and walking his fingers on the ground before nodding.
What the hell was that? Keith thought to himself. "NO. That plan is stupid." Keith objected. "Use your words damn it!"
"I said- I'm going to go grab the crystal- you distract the Galran."
"How about no- I'm not distracting anyone. This is supposed to be a recon mission- NOT an action movie."
"Well what do you want to do then? Look just because you're scared-"
"I am not scared!" Keith yelled in an urgent whisper. "I am just thinking logically- there is no reason to draw any attention to ourselves and- WOULD YOU STOP THAT?!" He hissed as Lance mimicked his partner's rage with a talking hand, flapping his fingers over his thumb.
"See- that's a distraction."
A shadow loomed over the arguing boys
"What's a distraction?" Asked a guard.
"oops." Lance swallowed.

The two boys sat with their backs to each other, neither one of the particularly happy.
"Well this sucks." Lance remarked.
"At least you're not stuck to an idiot."
"At least you're chained to me. Ladies would kill for this."
"It'd be a short line." Keith scoffed
"Would not!"
"Would too- just think of it- me, surrounded by women."
"Uhhhh. Nope. Nothing is coming to mind. Can't imagine it."
"Oh come on, man!"
A figure appeared in the cell's door frame. "Would you stop arguing?!" The guard yelled.
Lance spoke up. "Oh- guard thank goodness you're here I was wondering if you would be kind enough to chain me up with anything else in the universe? A scaly alien with toxic slime or something?"
"Sorry. We're all out of toxic scaly prisoners." He reported, through gritted teeth. "Just shut up would you until the boss comes."
"Yeah, yeah fine." Keith agreed. He lowered his voice. "Look I get it- you don't want to be here either but we need to get out of here."
Shouts were heard down the hall and the links to the shackles and bars of the cell disintegrated.
"That works!"
The paladins scrambled to their feet and ran into the corridor to see what was happening. Pidge stood in front of the guard's monitor. "Hey guys." She said smugly.
"Pidge- where's"
"You had one job!" Shiro called out from behind dropping the unconscious guard.
"Uh oh the boys are in trouble!" Pidge sang out.
Hunk ran in "Uh guys I grabbed the rock so can we go?"
"Paladins! Out to your lions and retreat to the castle!"
The paladins stormed out, weapons summoned and drawn while running at full speed. Blue and Red lions were parked hidden behind the rocks at the top of the quarry. The boys jumped in and took off for the castle.
Lance connected to Keith's radio. "Do you think we're screwed?" He asked
"Totally." Keith replied. For once the boys agreed on something. They. were. screwed.
