Seasons are changing

And waves are crashing

And stars are falling all for us

Prologue

James flopped down the sofa.

He was currently in his dressing room, in a studio in Quezon City.

It was another tiring day at work. He was relieved he was done for the day, and it was his off the following day.

Now, he was just waiting for Bret and Ivan to change to their own clothes.

They were a bit late.

Not wanting to do nothing, James grabbed the nearest thing he could reach: his camera.

He turned it on and started browsing through the pictures.

He shook his head in mild exasperation. He keeps forgetting he hasn't moved his photos to his hard disk. There were pictures since their summer vacation.

Nevertheless, he smiled as he saw pictures of his family and friends from events, photoshoots, outings.

But suddenly, he everything started shaking. James held onto the sofa.

'An earthquake??' He thought in panic. But it was over as fast as it came.

James stood up, still clutching the camera.

He peeked out the window instinctively.

But there seems to be no alarm; not that he could see much from the eleventh floor.

Just then a shadow fleeted over him for a second.

He looked up, and his eyes widen.

'Asteroid??' James thought in amazement. It was like a scene in Gundam, something was shooting from the sky.

James blinked and in a sudden inspiration, raised his camera and took a photo.

It was just in time. It was gone a few seconds after he had clicked the camera.

James looked down at what he had captured in picture.

His eyes widen.

The door opened then, and in came Bret and Ivan.

"James! Are you okay? Did you feel that?" Bret asked.

James just numbly nodded. He was shocked from what he had just seen.

The two looked at him in concern.

"You sure you're okay?" Ivan asked.

James blinked. "Yes... I'm okay. It was over in a short while..." He said.

Ivan nodded. "Yeah..."

"Well, let's get going." Bret said. "We should be quick, another earthquake may struck."

---

James said goodbye to Bret and Ivan as he got off Bret's car. His condo was in the other street, but he didn't want Bret to drive out of his way. It was just a little bit of walk to his condo from where he got off to, anyway.

He turned to a corner as the car drove away.

He was a bit surprise at what welcomed him.

There were many police cars and firetrucks in the street. A lot of authorities and a crowd of people was gathered there. The road was temporarily closed.

'What happened?'

Curious, he had moved to the crowd, trying to look at what caused the commotion.

He gaped at what he saw.

There was a very big crack on the road.

'Because of that earthquake?'

But it wasn't like the other damages earthquake caused.

No. the damage was only in that general area. It was as if something had hit just that area. Like someone set a very huge rock drill on the place or a meteor...

The image of the picture flashed through James' mind.

'Can this be...?'

He shook his head. 'Ridiculous.'

He started walking away, trying to clear his mind of his silly idea.

James turned another corner. He was grateful he was away from that at last.

He sighed. 'I must be more tired than I thought.'

He could already see his condo.

'Just a bit more.' He thought, smiling.

He passed through a narrow alley.

He stopped dead.

A girl.

There was a girl there.

She was very beautiful--no words could describe how beautiful she was.

She looked at him. Their eyes met. There was fear in her eyes.

James just stood still, unbelieving.

The girl had wings. White large wings.

But the left one was stained with a red color.

'Blood?'

When she had saw where he was looking she looked more scared and suddenly her wings disappeared.

She started crying.

James was brought out from his trance.

"A-are you okay?" He asked.

She didn't reply but kept crying.

James noticed there was also a red stain on the girl's side.

It was definitely blood. She was wounded.

Disregarding other thoughts, James had moved close to the girl.

"You're injured..." He said worriedly.

The girl looked at him one last time and then her eyes closed.

She collapsed, unconscious.

Looking at the girl, James had thought he might have imagined the wings.

She was very beautiful, her face looks gentle, her skin smooth and almost glowing, she looked angelic. But just the same, she also looked hurt, very frail, and very human.

But then there were many white feathers scattered throughout the alley.

He shook his head and carried the girl cautiously.

Whoever or whatever she was, he couldn't leave her there alone.

To be continued....
