I sat there. Staring at my phone. I was so nervous my hands were numb. The one thing that made me think about hitting "done" is the weight that will be lifted off my shoulders after I press it. I gained up the little courage I had and hit "done". I did it. The anxiety died down but was still there and I felt... free? The weight was finally lifted. I finally came out to the school. Now all I had to do was wait. Wait for people to see "I'm gay" in my Instagram bio.

After an hour of no one noticing I decided to post. I scrolled through my camera roll, past the pictures of Connor Franta and Troye Sivan until I found a picture of a rainbow I took a week ago while in the car to my best friends house. I put a cool filter on it and then the caption... it was hard to pick The wording but I figured it out. Once I had put "By the way I'm gay" in the Caption I posted it. Within two minutes the post had 20 likes. I didn't know I would get so much support!

The suspense of what would happen the next day at school was eating me alive so I put down my phone and closed my eyes.

BEEP BEEP! I quickly hit snooze on my alarm. I grabbed my phone and reflexively checked Instagram. Then, when I saw my bio i remembered. I came out last night. Even saying those words in my head filled me with a mix of emotions; Anxiety, excitement, fear, and for some reason, anger. I quickly got out of bed and stumbled to my dresser because my legs were numb from the anxiety. I grabbed a pair of khakis and a T-shirt, stuffed my binder into my backpack and headed downstairs.
"Good morning, sleepy head" my mom Exclaimed
I chuckled like always.
I grabbed a cherry pop tart from the cupboard and headed out the door.

I got to the bus stop and sat down on the rusty metal bench. My best friend, Jackson was already waiting there for me. He is tall with short brown hair.He was already waiting for me at the bus stop.
"I saw what you posted on Instagram" he said
"Oh yea, I couldn't deal with hiding from people all the time. So I came out." I replied
He pulled a bag of gummy bears out of his backpack and offered me some. Obviously, I took some because I love gummy bears. I thanked him as the bus screeched to a halt in front of us. The doors made a huffing noise then opened.
As I walked down the aisle I got a strange look from one of the football players. Like always, I sat down next to my best friend. We were just having a normal Conversation when a crumpled sheet of paper hit me In the nose. I rubbed my nose as I uncrumpled the white sheet of lined paper. I stared at the message in fear.
It said "How ya doing, faggot?"
Jackson just stared at it like I did. A single tear ran down my cheek. I didn't know what to do. Should I have fought back? Or just ignore it. I decided to just sit there in sadness and despair until the bus reached the school.

However, Jackson yelled "I SWEAR TO GOD, WHOEVER THREW THAT IS GONNA FRIGGING REGRET IT!"

I told him to sit down as the bus stopped in the school parking lot. I slowly walked down the aisle and out the bus door. My eyes still burned from crying. I threw on my hood and speed walked into school. Jackson tried to cheer me up but I ignored him and kept walking. When I got to my locker I kept my head down and quickly opened it. I knew people were laughing at me and maybe even talking about me with their friends. I thought my life would be better after coming out. But it was the opposite.

I grabbed my books out of my bag and put my bag in my locker. As I was walking down the long, smelly hallway, some guy I didn't even know knocked my books out of my hand. Out of the blue, The guy I like got on the ground to help me pick up my books.
"You're more brave than all of them, don't let any of them hurt you. And do ya know where I live?"
I told him I didn't, even though I did so he told me to meet him there at 7:00 that night. My parents were going out of town that night so it was perfect! Before he finished helping me he said something though. Something Ill never forget.
"I'm think I'll come out too" he whispered before he got up and handed me my books. He started walking the other direction and when he was halfway down the hallway he turned around and winked. I was in shock. What was he talking about? Is he Gay too? I was asking so many questions in my head. I knew they would all be answered that night at his house though.

I got to the guys house. I stepped towards the door and rang the doorbell I heard footsteps heading towards the door. Then once the footsteps stopped the door opened to reveal a messy-looking brown haired teenager.
"I'm here for Axel, he invited me later today" I said
"I am axel, silly. Come on in!" He exclaimed
Something seemed unusual he wasn't acting like normal.
He said that they were playing truth and dare as we headed into the living room where a bunch of kids from school were sitting in circle formation. There were 4 girls and 4 guys. They invited me into the circle so I sat down next to a redhead girl with tons of freckles.
"So... who's gonna ask The new guy"
The redhead chick next to me yelled that she would. She seemed way too excited. Axel chuckled and nodded.
"Truth or Dare" the Redhead said as she licked her lips
I chose dare and she took a few seconds to think then looked at me in a flirtatious way and blurted out
"Play a game of Spin the Bottle!" Her and the other girls giggled. Axel handed me a beer bottle. I wasn't even gonna question why he had one because he seemed very drunk anyway. I placed the bottle in the center of the circle and spun it. My heart was racing and I thought I was gonna pass out. It seemed like forever until the bottle stopped spinning. The tip of the bottle was pointing directly at Axel. I gulped as he stared at me. A few people yelled to just do it. All of the sudden Axel pecked at my lips and suddenly we were making out as if no one else was in the room. I heard gasps and a few ews but I didn't care. That was the best thing that's ever happened to me. We eventually stopped and then Axel said,
"We are going to my room."
He grabbed my hand and brought me upstairs to his room. The second we entered the doorway he shut the door furiously and started making out with me as he pushed me to the bed. It started with him pulling off my shirt then we were both in our Underwear. He strutted over to the bedside table and got a condom out of the drawer.

I woke up to see Axel by my side.
"G-good morning." I whispered
He said good morning as I got up and threw on one of Axels shirts when all of the sudden the ground started to shake violently. I quickly grasped the end of the bed. Axel suddenly woke up and rolled onto the ground. I heard him yell something as a hole formed in the ground. The hole quickly absorbed him and he was gone. Everything that happened last night with us was probably gone. The love of my life was probably dead because of one earthquake. Tears started to stream down my face like a waterfall. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. It sounded like multiple people. I looked at the doorway hoping that it was Axel. But it wasn't. It was that stupid redhead and her friend.
"RUN!" They both yelled as the floor beneath them collapsed to reveal water flooding the living room below like a lake. How could this happen. My life seemed perfect last night and now it's like the apocalypse is here! I looked around for ways to escape and decided to drag the mattress off the bed. I ran to the part of the bed that wasn't collapsed and dragged it to the ground. The second it hit the ground, the hardwood floor fell into the hell that was living room. The impact as the mattress hit the water felt like it broke my ribs. I yelped in pain as the current pulled the mattress towards the other side of the house. The wall to the pool was non existent. Once I was in the pool are I saw trees with people in them. I looked at every tree by Axel wasn't in one of them. "Oh no" i mumbled under my breath. As i approached the trees I prepared to grab onto a Branch.
"Grab on to my hand! QUICK!" The redhead yelled from a nearby tree. I leaped in her direction and grasped onto her sweaty but surprisingly strong hand.
