It felt like years before the flood cleared up. The town was a marshy hell but at least the streets weren't rivers anymore. The redhead girl and I hopped onto the concrete ground of the pool area. The fence around the pool was gone. Looked around, there were 3 bodies. Two were boys that were at the party and the other one was the redheads friend. The redhead started to tremble as she ran over to the corpse. Tears were rushing down her face as she yelled something inaudible at the sky. I sat down by a tree to think. How did this happen? Everything was normal and great until the minute I woke up. Then I realized. Did this happen around the world? Are my parents okay? So many questions were rushing through my mind that it gave me a headache.
"Hey! What's your name" I hollered at the readhead
"Jennifer, but you can call me Jenn..." she mumbled as she sniffled.
"I know you're sad.. Jenn, I am too but we need to get somewhere safe, we don't know what else is gonna happen."
"Okay"
We started to head down the road when she asked where we were going. The truth was, I didn't know. But I remembered my dad telling me to go to the school If I ever lost him in some Natural Disaster.
"The School" I told her.
She sighed and just went with it. We were halfway to the school when I heard a loud barking noise. I quickly turned around to see six large bulldogs barking as slobber dripped down onto the cracked, wet concrete. I gulped in fear and yelled at Jenn to run. I was relieved when she listened and we both started in a full on sprint. I could hear the dogs behind us and I thought they were Catching up. Then I noticed Up ahead was the last turn before we got to the school. That thought made me less terrified but adrenaline was still rapidly pumping through my body and it felt like my heart would pop out of my body.
"We're almost there!" Jenn yelled
Surprisingly, the fence around the school was still there. I started to run faster than I knew I could. Jenn and I quickly jumped the fence and we were safe. The vicious, dirty, probably rabid dogs barked and growled at us from the other side of the fence. Slobber and snot dripped down from their snouts onto the grass. I felt so relieved but I was completely out of breath. I realized we needed to get in the school as soon as possible so I slowly picked myself up and Jenn followed. We were so out of breath we could barely walk. We stumbled every two seconds but we eventually made it into the school.
