"Top of the morning to ya, laddies! My name is Jacksepticeye and welcome to a game called 'OTP.' I've been getting a lot of requests to play this game, I know Mark and Felix already did a video on it, but other than that, I don't know much at all about this game. It's in VR, which I'm excited about, I love playing these types of games and I can't wait to see what this is all about!"
Jack was pleased with his introduction and decided not to ramble further, he's always worried about talking too much and not getting to the game quick enough. He slid the headset over his eyes, trying to ease his always buzzing mind. He wasn't at all sure what to expect from the game, but figured by the title that it would appeal to quite a large audience.
The game opened to a menu with several YouTubers listed, an avatar next to their name once selected that seemed identical to that of a Sim, but looked similar to what they actually looked like as a person. The background was a shimmering pink/purple and the avatars were standing on white, circular platforms that were slowly spinning them to show every angle.
"It looks like you can be... Dan, Felix, me, Mark, Marzia, or Phil," He said and hovered over his name before selecting it. A passage came up afterwards before the actual game began and he started reading it aloud, "You have selected JackSepticEye as your point of view. The pairing will be chosen by default settings. Let's set the scene... I have no idea what's happening."
He giggled a bit and read the next passage that came up in front of him, "This passage is written in Jack's point of view," He said, then went back into reading as it went to the actual story, "I was excited. No, I was more than excited. I was finally going back to America to hang out with some friends without going to any conventions. It'll be great to catch up with Mark and Felix... I'm assuming this means I'll be - um - involved with one of them," He laughed a bit to ignore the somewhat awkwardness he felt.
The screen faded after he pressed continue and the scene opened up to a living room, which Jack thought oddly represented Mark's house. The game had immediately cut to the dialogue, but no voice acting was given. While text showed up on the screen, Jack was far too distracted by the figures in front of him that looked far more realistic than they had in the menu screen. They appeared exactly how Felix and Mark looked, not skipping any beauty marks that lay on either of them.
"Oh, sorry," Jack finally spoke up, realizing he had fallen silent. "The design in this game... Can I even say design? It's like a picture - it's like I'm actually there! This is crazy! ...So Mark's speaking first, let me get my voices ready..." He cleared his throat and did a warm-up by saying Mark's voice, but couldn't reach the depth of Mark's voice. "It's great seeing you guys again, sorry if the place is a mess, I've been trying to get it cleaned up for weeks now, but never can seem to find enough time to get it all done."
Jack found it odd how Mark's lips moved as he spoke his text, confused as to how it hadn't already fallen into default motions after taking so long to finally start getting back into the game. Felix's character - or rather, being, considering how realistic he looked - was simply smiling at Mark, until his text came up afterward. Jack waited for a moment to see if Felix's mouth would start moving before he began talking, but nothing happened.
"Felix: It's no problem, Mark, don't worry about it! Mark: I just want this to be a stress-free trip for you guys. Jack:" He stopped for a minute and smiled. "Yay, I finally speak! I was wondering why I was so quiet for so long! Anyway, Jack: It's okay, Mark, don't worry about our trip here, no matter what, it'll be great!"
Mark's avatar smiled at Jack, making eye contact by looking directly where the VR's eyes were placed. It felt weird and as though he was really in the same room as his friends. In a way, it made him really happy. He missed being around his friends and thought he might sneak back into the headset after he played the whole game, just to feel closer to them again and less lonely. It could be his guilty little secret that he just couldn't help doing. The thought made him smile sadly.
