Chapter One: A Beautiful Beginning
Yesterday was quite poignant, but it was also joyful, too. I didn't want to leave my old region and my friends, but I was - and I still am - incredibly excited about exploring the beautiful places in the Kalos region. By that I meant Lumiose City, where the Cafes, PR Trainer Video Studio, and - most importantly - the Boutique Couture. Oh, how I wish my mother let us live there instead of this quiet little town! I don't even remember the name of this place, nor do I want to know because it will be forgotten by me, Serena.
I didn't want Fletchling to attack me to wake me up, so I was already up and running the moment the sun shone through the window blinds. I quickly got up from under my blanket and changed into my favorite introductory clothes (the clothes I liked to wear when I meet people I have never seen before). I am wearing a high-waisted dress with black at the top and the skirt a rosy red, a light, almost pink, red felt hat with white-framed sunglasses cropped on top, and knee-high black boots. I marvel at myself at the mirror. I look very posh and fashionable indeed.
I must have looked at myself for over a minute and Mother had probably told Fletchling to wake me up, because the tiny bird Pokemon flew into my room. I am not fond of that red and grey thing of Mother's.
In a futile attempt to shoo Fletchling away, I started furiously batting at him with my arms. I am careful and I didn't want to knock down any of my decors, but I really wanted that... That thing out of here!
Fletchling flies towards me in an angered fashion and knocks my hat and my sunglasses down. I look at my sunglass lens in disbelief and shriek when I see the small scratch. I couldn't possibly live with a scratch on my attire!
"Oh! You treacherous beast!" I cry, my hands flying up. "Get out this instant!" Fletchling swiftly swooped down, pecked my dress skirt (are you kidding?!), and went well down it's way to the living room.
"Serena! Is everything alright? Are you awake? Please come downstairs!" Mother
calls. She asked too many questions.
No, I feel terrible. "Yes, Mother, I am okay," I call back without a tone of frustration. I pull out another set of white-framed sunglasses and prop them on my hat, take my matching red and white bag, and walk gracefully down the stairs like a princess.
"Why don't you go outside and meet our neighbors?" Mother tells me the instant I step down the last step. The question - or rather, the order - struck me bizarre because Mother knows, excuse me, thinks I am a shy girl. I want attention. I act hesitant yet obedient as I open the door. A beautiful, cloudless blue sky and old-fashioned village houses and oak trees lay before me, and a boy and a girl about my age stood outside. They look as if they have been expecting me. Somewhat weird...
The girl wears a pink shirt with three black bows, super-short jeans, and has a matching pink bag with matching black bows. The most unusual part about her is her hair; her brown hair is tied like a cross between a ribbon and a Minccino...
The boy, having medium long-ish dark brown hair, gleaming brown eyes, a blue-zipped jacket and long dark blue pants and a red Pokemon Logo cap with sunglasses propped on top (apparently we have the same sense of where the sunglasses go), actually looks somewhat cute...
But then sadly, there is the cute brunette with him... What if he's her boyfriend? Actually, I wouldn't care. I would steal him from her in a split-second.
"Hi! You're the new girl in town right?!" The girl says with eager, widened, green eyes and a wide, and I mean WIDE, smile. She has the voice of a fourth grader, but looks like she's twelve. "I'm Shauna, and welcome tooo... Vaniville Town!!!"
So this is the barren wasteland's name... I thought, ironically excluding the natural scenery. It didn't matter to me, because this is certainly not the place I want to remember. I am more of a city girl.
"I'm Calem," The boy greets. He doesn't smile but looks like he's trying to be friendly. "Pleased to make your acquaintance." Acquaintance? Oh, please. We are most certainly going to be closer than great friends, no matter how far away you live.
Then I find out he's my neighbor next door. Perfetto!
I remember my manners and introduce myself, "I am Serena, and I am glad I get to know you. It's not very often someone greets me right away."
"There are two other people waiting for you at the next town over, so please meet us there!" Shauna says. That is the most spontaneous thing I have ever heard. How do so many people know about me all of a sudden? I didn't care because I loved it, because I am on my way to becoming a famous person. Calem and Shauna left the town and passed through the gate which led to the next town.
I huff and start walking to the open gate and down the short pathway... A few seconds later I found myself at the next town. That is the shortest path I have ever seen. I look at a sign that tells me that the place's name is Aquacorde Town. It's bigger than Vaniville, but it's nothing compared to Lumiose City, I imagine.
I look to the left of the plateau (which has many tables because there is a cafe) and see the brunette girl, Calem, and two other boys. They don't look very cute. One kid-looking boy has huge ginger hair that seems to make an unfashionable sphere around his head. The other, well, he looks rather... plump. I have no euphemism for the word...
Shauna smiles and waves at me, signaling me to come over, and so I do, strutting towards the four. I hoped that Calem would notice my beautiful body, but nooo he just sits there with no emotion on his wonderful face. No smile...? No frown...? He doesn't seem to be looking at anyone either. I 'hmphed' quietly and took the seat next to Calem.
"Everyone! This is Serena! The girl I just I LITERALLY JUST talked about!!" Shauna introduced me energetically. Is she always this enthusiastic when she meets new people?! I hope I don't have to endure annoyance. "Let's introduce ourselves!!"
I take a peek at Calem, and I don't know what his deal is with being silent. It's either he's too shy to speak in front of me or he's... just like that. I think I'm attracted to cute, mysterious boys...
"I'm Shauna, as you already know!! I loooove cute, tiny Pokemon! I want to be a famous person one day, probably in acting!!" Like that will ever happen... "I also want to make lots and lots of memories when we embark on our journey!! I hope I get to make one with every single one of you!!!"
Journey? No one ever mentioned an adventure! Mother wouldn't set up that type of thing for me, so it's definitely not a plan...
"I'm Tierno, and I want to make an awesome Pokemon dance dream team," Tierno, the fat one (no offense, Tierno), says. I guess dancing would be good for him...
"He's Trevor," Shauna says, "and he's like, really smart and gets perfect scores on tests."
"Neighbor, I'm Calem," Calem finally spoke, "and I hope to obtain all eight Gym Badges and defeat the current Champion of Kalos." It's easy to say, but is it hard to complete? I was never really interested in Pokemon battles, but I know all the type match ups. In any given moment, I can be asked to a Pokemon battle... "My parents are Veterans so I would like to exceed their expectations by defeating the most powerful Trainer... The Champion."
He is on a roll so far, saying such a difficult task and hoping to achieve it! I will encourage him on this terribly spontaneous journey!
Tierno took out a glass and metal capsule that contained three Pokeballs. "Trevs and I already have our own Pokemon. Now it's your turn to choose." He opened the glass top and released the Pokemon from the Pokeballs. I know these Pokemon.
Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin. The Starter Pokemon of Kalos.
Shauna cheered, Calem examined the Pokemon, and I thought that this is a very, very, spontaneous day.
How is it so far? I hope to complete this very first adventure with you, readers!
