Pokemon X and Y: Serena's Adventure

Chapter 2: It's Only the Beginning of an Adventure!

Hello readers! I know I have made some minor mistakes. I'll edit it... later.

"You can choose your partner first," Calem says to me.

I flutter my sky blue eyes at him with a deceiving sweet smile and giggle shyly, "Okay, Calem." Of course, I wanted to make my liking for him obvious to squeeze a reaction from him. But, again, he remained emotionless and hid his thoughts from me. Does he even think anything of me?

I look at the three Pokemon and I knew instantly who would be my partner.

"Fennekin," I decide, and I walk towards the tiny Fire-type fox (FireFox, haha) and pick her up. Fennekin purred and I smiled warmly. "I'm Serena. Nice to meet you."

She is cute and light now, but when she evolves... No, I can't possibly let her evolve! I am not fond of large Pokemon! I would refuse to battle anyways.

Shauna chose Chespin, Fennekin's strength, and Calem purposely chose Froakie, Fennekin's weakness. Does Calem see me as an opponent?! I must think of a way to make him love me. Perhaps I will continue to flirt with him until I see one hint of red. Calem is not going to make me battle! It. Is. Unladylike.

But my mind starts to think... Winning Pokemon battles equals money. I will become rich if I defeat many Trainers. I grin slyly in my head.

"Serena, please take this," Calem breaks my train of thought, but that is good in a way. He hands me an envelope, and my heart starts to flutter and I to breathe as steady as possible. Is it... a love letter, perhaps? "Before you travel Kalos, you must give your mother this letter. It's from Professor Sycamore. It will inform your mother about the journey we are going on."

That ruins my romantic thought.

"I will see you very soon," Calem states. Without saying good-bye to me (what is his problem? If he has any?) he leaves the table. Santalune Forest is up ahead. He is probably going to train there. Jeezums.

I wistfully sigh. "I suppose I shall go home and give my mother this letter..." I get up from the table. "We shall meet again?"

"Of course! We'll see you at Route 2!! 'Kay?!" Shauna says excitedly. "We're gonna catch some POKEMON!"

Fennekin and I left as Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor waved good-bye to me.

We quickly go through Route 1. I get back home, and  once I step through the doorway, Mother asks me, "How are your new friends, Serena? Are they nice? I saw them when you went outside." Mother asks me questions too quickly.

Before I could reply, she looks at Fennekin, smiles at her and says, "Aww, you received Fennekin, the Fire-type starter? She's really cute!" Fennekin, who is in my arms, yips happily. "Be sure to raise her properly and nicely. Some young Pokemon can take after their Trainer's personality, but you are a good young lady so I'm sure there is nothing to worry about."

"Yes, Mother, I can take care of this cute, little Fennekin!" I cuddle with Fennekin and she nuzzles my neck. She is like a stuffed toy and is very warm, because of course she is a Fire-type. "The girl named Shauna is very friendly, and so is the boy named Calem," I answer Mother's question about my new friends.

I pull out the letter that Calem gave me and hand it to Mother. "This letter is from Professor Sycamore. Calem told me that five of us are going around the region."

Mother mutters something about a love letter, opens the letter, and reads it to herself.

"Ah, so this Professor heard about us moving to Kalos and chose five children to travel around the region to complete the Pokedex..." Mother says aloud, "And you are one of them... Oh! How nice of him to think about you!" 

I'm sure Professor knew about us moving to Kalos. After all, Mother is a famous first-place Rhyhorn racer.

Mother pulled me in and hugged me, but made sure not to squish Fennekin. "This is a great opportunity for you to learn about this region. You'll meet many people, make friends, and, of course, have fun!" I pull away from her. "Serena, there's also history about Kalos, so make sure you learn about that too."

"That's fantastic, Mother. I cannot wait until we see all the wonderful towns and cities!" The only place I truly want to go to Lumiose City, Mother. I suppose that going to all the other places will be nice, since I can meet a wide variety of people and gain popularity...

I had to bring more money and clothes, so I packed a few of those and then I was ready to part from Mother. There are storages in the Pokemon Centers, so I don't have to worry about trudging a big luggage case when I buy more clothing. It would be more than a pain...

Mother got really teary as she wishes me good luck. She reminds to be good and other things that I already know. Parents... They're so overprotective.

I start to run away from Vaniville Town (I'm surprised that I even remembered the name at all!), back to Aquacorde Town, and towards Route 2 where the entrance of Santalune Forest is.

Calem and Shauna were waiting for me. How sweet of them/Calem! 

But seriously, Shauna, Calem is mine.

So Serena chose Fennekin? Of course she did.

That was a slightly boring and short chapter, I'm so sorry.

But, it's only the beginning! :)
