Chapter 3: How to Catch a Pokemon?

Fennekin and I arrive at Route 2. Shauna's Chespin is as cheerful as her and Calem probably has Froakie in his Pokeball.

Calem was waiting for me, of course. I can read through those blank emotions painted on his face. It's love at first sight!

"Hey, Serena!!" Shauna's high-pitched voice greets loudly. I resist the urge to cover my ears because it would be rude to do right in front of her. "Calem's gonna show us how to catch a WILD POKEMON!! I'm sooo excited!"

I smile at Calem. "So you know how to catch a Pokemon? I bet your parents were kind enough to show you how to catch one." I end with a girlish giggle, but there is no reaction from him.

"You can talk about my parents, but they don't have to do with anything," says Calem as he walks into the tall grass like he's done it a million times before. For goodness sake's, he told me that he wanted to exceed his parents' expectations but he says they don't have to do with anything? I 'hmph' quietly and put a hand on my hip.

That grass... looks like a clothing killer. The sickly green blades could possible shred my dress skirt and leggings... These clothes are expensive, but I want to wear them so I could show it off!


Calem sends out Froakie when he encounters a Bidoof (Level 2, I think). Bidoofs... I have no liking for those creatures.

Calem talks about lowering the Pokemon's HP by using damage-dealing moves and tips to make it easier to catch Pokemon.

Honestly, I already know how to catch a Pokemon, but I do my best watch Calem with interest. I don't want to be rude...

This seems silly to say at this low Level, but Calem and Froakie's bond is strong. His Pokemon obeys to every command and they are breathing in perfect sync.

If only I had the will to engage in Pokemon battles...

I drift into my own dreams of becoming rich and famous. I didn't notice Calem catching the useless and dorky Bidoof.

"That's how you catch a Pokemon, Shauna and Serena," Calem says. Shauna widens her eyes in awe and compliments him on being so smart. I can't think of anything to say. 

 "Um, of course Calem is smart!" I blurt out to Shauna. "It would be stupid to embark on a journey without any knowledge!" 

I think I may have hurt the girl's feelings. If I did, she is very good at hiding it because she still smiles.

I am so sorry that this is so short! I just have no time to write anymore. :/
