"So you and Axl?"
"What about him?" I wondered.
Duff shrugged, his height towering over me as we walked down the street. "He introduced you to Motley as his girlfriend and Nikki was just like 'how could she dump me for such a fag' all night!" he said, imitating Nikki in a whiny voice.
"It's nothing. It was just so Sixx would get the picture that it's over...since there was like, no official break up or anything."
The bassist snickered. "And then..."
"And then what?"
"And then you kissed Axl", he teased. "Are you sure there's nothing?"
I rolled my eyes as he made a comment about "not screaming so loud next time." "There's absolutely nothing", I growled. "Now where is this-"
"Scar." Duff grabbed me by the shoulders and forced me to stand still. "Are you sure? Did you tell Axl that? You know, he wouldn't be trying so hard if there wasn't something about you."
"Excuse me?"
Duff chewed on his lip and shrugged. "I don't know what it is but if you were anybody else, you'd be fucking gone by now", he said. "But you're you. If Axl didn't pick up on something about you when you first got here, he would've kicked you out that first day. He wouldn't have insisted on finding you at the park or get so mad about you working at Paul's."
"It's like you think we're soul mates", I scoffed, brushing his hand off. "No, we already had that talk. It's Nikki and I'll find him some other time, some other place."
The bassist laughed. "Scar, that's not what I mean. I mean, maybe Axl does have a thing for you but at the very least, the guy wants to be your friend. Axl's obsessive with his friends since he doesn't have a whole lot."
"I'm not being the doormat to him Izzy is."
"Izzy's actually not much of a pushover." Duff started walking again. "Izzy actually is kind of like...like Axl's voice of reason. He sits him down, makes him calm down, and makes him work out his shit. Izzy has this crazy ability to see things from any perspective you throw at him and that includes Axl's."
"Why are they so close?" I wondered.
"Friends from Indiana", Duff informed. "I think they grew up together or something. Anyway, don't be so quick to assume what Axl and Izzy are. Hell, I don't think any of the rest of us are even sure."
I nodded and followed Duff until we reached the gas station. He got himself a pack of Marlboro Reds while I picked up two 40s. Maybe we could share beer and just chill for a while. After paying for everything, we left and made jokes on our way back to the Hell House. Duff was actually a really nice guy who didn't mind talking about literally anything. Once we were back at the house, we found Slash and Steven on the couch where they'd decided to turn on Elvira's Movie Macabre. "Longest beer run I've ever heard of", I said, plopping down on the floor.
