Nate was in the shower five minutes before his alarm went off leaving Sharon sleeping in his bed. He wanted to get to the site at least an hour before everyone else started flowing in and the hour's drive alone will do him good – he needed to clear his head.
He had a brain pest. Her smile, her shy averted eyes and just about everything about Kimmy haunted him. It was probably just physical attraction and a little driving time out should help him stop all these thoughts and it was also probably because she was so different from most people in his circle of acquaintances. That had to be it, Lord, it couldn't be more than that. He turned up all the faucets and quickly finished his shower determinedly setting aside all thoughts of Kimmy. He dressed quickly and went to the kitchen to make coffee before Sharon woke up. She liked coffee in bed so he'd bring her some. Now that's what he should do – think about more ways of making Kimmy happy - Sharon!
Okay, this was getting really old really fast and he'd better get a hold of himself before he said it aloud, for Christ's sake! He sighed and started saying Sharon's name over and over again in his mind as he made the coffee. She liked it black and sweetened in the morning so he did just that and took it up to her with his own coffee in his other hand. Ah, she was still asleep.
'Sharon?' he laid the mug on the bedside table and he kissed her cheek. She stirred moaning softly. 'Hey, babe.' He whispered and when she opened her blue eyes he suddenly found himself wishing they were green.
'Hey.' She smiled then looked at him. 'You're already leaving?'
'Yeah, remember I told you about the offset shoot.' He reminded her.
'Mmm...' she hummed sitting up. 'Yeah, I guess maybe you did.'
I did, you just forgot, Nate said in his head but aloud he said, 'I made coffee.' He handed her the mug.'Aww...' She cooed accepting the cup.
'I'm leaving. See you tonight?' he said picking up his keys and some papers lying on his table.
'Yeah, I'll call you.' She said raising her face for a kiss which he dutifully delivered on her lips.
'I know you will.' He mumbled heading for the door then he turned to blow her a kiss. He let himself out of the condo. It was still very early but he still needed the time out before he saw her at work today.
Kimmy was late.
Again.
She had never been this late for work before and it frustrated her beyond comprehension. She didn't want to disappoint Nate – or anyone else for that matter, she thought as the dressed up in a rush. She was about to slip her feet in a pair of flat pumps when she remembered what Lau had said to her the night before "heels just kind of command people to sit up straight and take notice".
She took a pair of strappy wedge heels from her small closet and put them on then stood up to look at the result. Mmm... it wasn't bad at all, she just prayed that her feet would survive the unusual pressure because she hardly ever wore heel especially when she was working but then again she always used to work from home. Well, that was about to change.
She smiled at her reflection then she turned to pick her handbag and a pair of sunglasses plus car keys. She did a quick sweep of the room to ensure that everything was in place then she let herself out of the door. She'd grab a coffee on her way up. Of course, she'd have to pass by the studio to get a few stuff she needed.
Traffic wasn't as heavy as it normally was; thank heavens for small mercies, she thought weaving through the traffic until she made it to the studio then quickly jumped out of the car and ran inside bumping into Sasha on the way in.
