Nate was more tired than usual today and just couldn't wait to get home. He rubbed his forehead and wished the headache to go away. He finished clearing up his desk for the day, took his cellphone and left his office.
'Sasha, lock my office.' he said as he passed her desk.
'Yes, Boss. See you tomorrow.' She called but Nate hardly heard her.
He couldn't take his mind off Kimmy. She had occupied seventy-five percent of his thoughts today. Maybe it was the way she had looked when he found her in the kitchen in the morning. She looked so...forlorn or scared...it was difficult to read but the minute he saw her that way he knew he had to do something to make her feel better. It was disturbing how much he thought about her.
Before he knew it, Nate was standing in front of Rocki's dressing room. What the hell was he doing here? He sighed. Well since he was already here, he might for as well check on Kimmy. And he hadn't seen Rocki since their fight on Sunday. He raised his hand and knocked on the door.
'It's open.' it was Kimmy's voice.
He hesitated then decided it was too late to turn back now so he turned the knob and entered the room. Both Kimmy and Rocki were already looking at the door so he smiled.
'Hey, ladies.'
'Nate.' Rocki breathed. 'I thought it might be that weird Mitch guy.'
'Mike.' Kimmy corrected in an undertone and Rocki rolled her eyes.
Nate frowned 'Does he come in here often?'
'Not at all.' Rocki said brushing her hair while looking at Nate through the mirror. 'It's just that he's weird and anything is possible with him. The other day he told me that if I ever needed another bodyguard I should give him a call.' Kimmy chuckled. 'How crazy is that?'
'A simple "No" would have sufficed.' Nate said referring to the answer to his question then he looked over at Kimmy. When he came in she had been holding a hair brush but she had set it down and now she looked as if she did not quite know what do with herself.
'How's Sharon?' Rocki asked obviously remembering the last time they had been together and Nate wondered if Kimmy knew about the whole incident but she was still gazing at the floor so he assumed that maybe she didn't know.
When Nate didn't respond, Rocki turned to look at him directly and she raised her eyebrows and he smiled at her. 'She is fine, Rocki.'
'Good. Give her my best.' Rocki winked then looked at Kimmy who as now pretending to tidy the overloaded clothes rack.
'I actually came here to check how Kimmy was feeling.' he said causing Kimmy's head to whip up so fast he almost heard a muscle snap.
She opened her mouth but Rocki beat her to it. 'You weren't feeling well? Why wasn't I told?'
'I'm fine. I was never sick.' Kimmy said quickly.
'So your body has the habit of draining color from your face when you are in the kitchen?' Nate dared her and he saw her taking a deep breath.
'Y-yes,' she inclined her head slightly. 'It does have that habit. Very annoying.'
Nate chuckled. So she did have a sense of humor, didn't she?
Rocki was frowning deeply. 'I don't follow. When did all this happen?'
'Earlier this morning.' Kimmy replied. 'It was nothing so don't worry about it.'
Nate noticed the look that passed between the two women but got distracted when she said "it was nothing". Well, it certainly hadn't been nothing for him. He had almost kissed her for God's sake! And he was definitely worried about that! What had gotten into him?
