"Janis it's time for school get up" I hear Holly yell from downstairs.

I didn't want to get up but at least it's Thursday and my dad will be home tomorrow. Since he has to go on business trips all week. The only time I get to see him is on the weekend, but luckily I'm not alone everyday. That's what Holly's here she's been my nanny since I was born. My mom died during childbirth so I never got to really meet her, but that's why my dad works so hard; so he can get me into a good college when i'm older. I miss him when he's gone, but it only makes the time we do spend together more special.

I quickly braided my hair and threw on an old t-shirt and black pants and ran downstairs to eat breakfast. I ate as fast as I could, grabbed my book bag and ran out the door to catch up with my friend Megan. We walked for 10 minutes talking and laughing till we got to school. Then we went our separate ways. I decided to go to the band room to practice my flute since our concert is in a few months ,and I had a lot of work to do. It was about 8 in the morning when everyone else started coming in to practice. A few minutes later our band director comes in and we start warming up together. We played though half the class when the principal and a police officer I had never met came into the room, and called me outside.

"Now Janis I know This is hard to hear, but your parents were in car accident; I'm sorry, but they didn't make it" He tried to explain, but I couldn't get it through my thick skull, as if that would some how bring him back.

I stood there frozen in place. I couldn't breath the sentence kept repeating itself in my mind.

"Your brothers have been informed, and they're on their way home officer Jones here will take you to your home" he proposed.

"Wait no I don't have parents I only have a dad and i'm an only child" I exclaimed.

"Bod Grey isn't he your father" he questioned.

"Yes but I don't have any brothers" I said.

"Well he was riding in the car with his wife Susan Grey" Says officer Jones.

I didn't say anything else my father had lied to me my whole life. I grabbed my stuff and followed officer Jones back to his police car and got in the passenger seat. I felt a little sick and dizzy the whole 5 minutes home. I got out and ran inside to see Holly sitting on the couch waiting for me. when she notices my presents she gets up and walked over and hugged me. I started crying, and officer Jones sat down beside me.

He said " Now Janis your opinion are, you can go live with your half brothers, go into a foster home, or maybe a relative or friends it's up to you, but we need to know by 5 tomorrow afternoon. I hope you can find some peace with this whole situation. I'll see at 5 tomorrow." He hugged me, but it was kind of awkward, but nice on the other hand I suppose.

I didn't say anything as he walked out the door and to his car. I started crying again and I hated it I didn't want to be so weak. After I could pull myself together enough to talk I turned to Holly

" I guess I'll go live with my half brothers" I couldn't say any thing else out of fear I would fall apart.

"Ok I would adopt you, but there's something I need to tell you; I'm back home with my family I was going to stay till you were 18, but I think the time is right" she said with a sorrowful look on her face.

I was a little mad, she was going to raise me then leave me all alone in the world. I started to fall apart again so I ran up to my room. I packed a few boxes until I got tired. When I awoke it was about 8. I walked downstair to see Holly was asleep on the couch I guess she wanted to be here for me I guess.

It about 3 in the afternoon when I was finished packing all my stuff that I would need at y new home. I decided to take a shower. After I was done taking a shower I dried and braided my hair quickly so I wouldn't end up being late. I ran to my room got dressed and put on my black boots on along with my fathers old leather jacket since it was late January and the snow was still falling.

After a few minutes there was a knock on the door I heard Holly talking to officer Jones. I walked slowly down the stairs while dragging my suitcase behind me that had my stuff I would need till I could come back and get everything else.

"So Janis, ready to go?" he questioned officer Jones.

I guess Holly told him my decision. He carried my suitcase out to his car. We rode to the court house ,in silence, so we could get the adoption papers signed it's going to be the first time I'm ever gonna meet my brothers.
