The kingdom’s entrance is a giant gate that was guarded by over twenty men. They all looked at Leo like he was a new type of species that they haven’t seen before. Well, to be fair, they really hadn’t seen him before. When you’re in a war with Satan and his army of devilish ghouls that want to rip your guts out, then you probably want to know everybody who claims to be on your side.

One of the guards made his way over to them and motioned for them to stay where they were, he was a warden. The archers stood upright and saluted, their eyes avoiding the warden that was coming closer.

When he arrived, he stared into Leo’s eyes and he made almost a low growling like sound. “So who exactly the hell are you and what are you doing here?”

Leo was almost far too confused at the whole situation to even answer. Then the warden stomped his foot and Leo cleared his throat, “Well, um, Sir?”

He was already losing the warden.

Leo had never actually had to deal with someone of his status before and therefore had no idea how to address or even speak to the warden, “I came from Ramalana and I stumbled across your men here, almost being cut down by a small group of werewolves so I came to their aid and killed them.”

The warden didn’t seem impressed by this act, in fact, he looked confused. He looked Leo up and down, like he was sizing him up to see if he could take him in a fight.

The warden then shook his head and snarled. “Ramalona? I have never heard of such a kingdom. This is the castle of Ferdinand. Home to one of the Great Knights, Sir Raul Ferdinand. We’re not much of an army but his majesty is very resourceful and is able to make big victory’s using small armies.”

Leo nodded his head. “Well that might be true, but what I saw was not that. I saw a group of stragglers being cornered to their deaths by a group of wolves that didn’t really even seem to be scratched.”

The warden puffs himself up as to appear bigger and more threatening. “Don’t you dare disrespect Sir Ferdinand and his army! He is one of the few Great Knight’s left and he has done wonders for this war. What have you done besides save a few stragglers that we wouldn’t even have noticed made it back anyways?”

This comment angered Leo, “Every life has meaning, and if you really respected this Ferdinand guy as much as you say that you do, you wouldn’t debunk another human being’s life. Especially one that is serving to protect you. In a world infested with parasitic demons that plague the remaining human population, we should be trying harder to bring everyone together, not divide and conquer.”

The guards behind the warden started to mutter to each other and he could feel himself losing control over his men and suddenly he calmed down and began to try and regain control over the situation. “You’re right, the world that we live in today forces us to work together, ironically though, the human race wasn’t built to work together. In fact throughout all of history we have been fighting each other tooth and nail, and out of these struggles have come new things, new inventions that have changed the world as we know it. If you ask me, man wasn’t meant to unify, they were meant to separate and drive each other to change the world by forcing them to come up with new ways to innovate how we live life.”

Leo sighed and shakes his head, “Can’t you see? If you were really as religious a man as you say you are then, you would be able to see that this is God’s punishment to all of mankind for their actions. He’s tired of us always fighting, so he allowed Satan to break free but only enough to scare us, only enough to make us form together, to unify and defeat this obstacle. But we still haven’t done that, not entirely. We, as a people, are still separated, only just in bigger herds, we still have factions and war with each other from time to time. We might be able to hold on for now but every day more and more of these demons will arrive, we’re being tested and timed.”
