Leo knocked on the captain's quarters door and smiled when he was greeted by Aster. He smiled back at Leo and welcomed him into his personal room. Leo stepped through the doors and was shocked by all that he saw. Aster’s room was covered by paintings of depictions of civilization from before the holy war began. Each painting showed a world where the people were happy. One painting showed a bunch of children playing in a meadow that came up to their waists. They all looked so happy and innocent. Another picture showed a farmer returning from his crops with a sack full of all sorts of exoctic fruits and vegetables and his family waiting for him on the other side looking so excited and full of life. In fact, every picture seemed to be happier than the last. Just standing in the room made you feel as if you were there in the past, like you knew each and every person in the painting and wanted things to just go back to how they were before. It reminded Leo so much of his life before this test, and how badly he wanted to go back to the home he once knew and loved.

Leo turned to Aster. “Wow, these paintings sure are awe inspiring. How did you get all of these?”

Aster was pouring himself a drink and made a gesture for Leo to see if he wanted some, but he declined by shaking his head. “I had them made, each and every portrait you see before you all came from my head. I had them thoroughly drawn from my description and I wouldn’t hang them up until they were all perfect.”

Leo smiled, “Well I’ll give you this, it sure is inspiring.” Leo turned from the paintings and to Aster again. “So, I heard you wanted to talk to me.”

Aster nodded his head, “Now that we’re safely back at the base, I wanted to fill you in on our situation and the backstory of our predicament.”

Leo was excited, he was waiting to get his answers and now, finally, he’s going to get them. “Finally, I can’t wait for you to answer some of my questions. Don’t wait for me to tell you, just start on the information!”

Aster nodded his head, “Well if I’m going to start, I might as well do it from the beginning. Long ago, everything used to be just like it was now, except the demons were ourselves. Instead of monstrous beasts slaying the citizens and conquering territory, it was our own people. You see, as our innovation increased, our kingdoms flourished and instead of having to work together just to survive the elements, we all began to master the world we inhabited. This gave birth to new opportunities, soon kingdoms didn’t want to just thrive, they wanted to expand. This is where our doom really began. Wars erupted everywhere. It didn’t take long before everyone was killing each other. Funny isn’t it? That when a species conquers one obstacle, they get greedy and create a whole new one for themselves. Instead of living in harmony and continuing to innovate, we completely shut down the innovation and just began slaughtering ourselves. It’s a sick and twisted part of a human's DNA, the want for more. I guess that’s the price we get for being more intellectual than the animals, because we were able to create civilizations and eliminated the threat of using all of our energy just to survive, we ended up giving birth to a new struggle, greed. Now that the people of our world were killing each other, it made us completely vulnerable to the biggest attack that our species or any other on this planet would see. The rise of Satan’s army. Satan was still stuck in hell, and still is, for now anyways. You see, his army was just the first of his assault, He plans to wipe away our entire race and kill everyone, once he has, he will have his army resurrect the ancient ritual to get him out of his prison, and once he’s free to roam on Earth, he’ll be free to travel to heaven and kill God. We must not let this happen. We were naive but not anymore, we realize our mistakes and must atone for them, and stop his army. Only then will we defeat Satan and keep him trapped in his prison.

Leo scratched his head, “I don’t get it. I mean I understand why people were killing each other before but why now? I mean if it’s so obvious that killing each other is making us weaker, than why are we continuing to do it?”
