"Maven! Ma-please! S-stop, it-it hurts, so bad," I can barely croak out a plea for mercy as the sounder whines in my head. Roaring in pain, I squeeze my eyes shut tight, tears slipping though my defenses. They mix with my red blood and drip to the floor, falling on Maven's perfect shoes. He scoffs at the blood just before he kicks me in the side d turns to leave.
"I thought you loved me, Mare. I thought you would stay with me." His voice quivers as he hovers by the door. he steels himself and continues through the door. I don't know when he'll be back. I don't even know if I can handle much more of this. It's a silent stone prison, but with the sounder ringing, I can hardly be silent. I scream in agony. I can't think, I can't worry, and ignorance can't save me. I am his prisoner, and he is my king. He was even my betrothed once, before the monster inside revealed itself.
The whining in my head form the sounder dies down slowly, and relief floods my mind.
Until the doors open.
