"Now, just strike, Alexis! We both want her to be safe!"

He could hear them. His red eyes widened with dread, he halted sharply as he slammed his paws down to the ground. He saw clearly what was happening, once he set foot in the clearing.

"Don't you dare!"

The wolf growled, because he saw the angel near the two demons. He had that sword in his hands.

Ayako huffed, because one tail pushed her off Lykaios' back to the ground, forcefully, with sudden urgency.

The sword rose.

"I'm sorry!"

The weapon fell down, directed fiercely towards Aeronwen's sylvan flesh... However, Uriel's eyes opened with shock, because before that weapon could touch her, he felt something latch around his waist. He huffed when he was hauled backwards and away. As he fell, he had time to catch a glimpse of what had pulled at him. He saw the tail that had thrown him back, while many others tangled around Gwen, to take his place. Those red eyes gave him a subtle glance, with no regrets; Lykaios nodded firmly as he held her arms and legs.

Alexis wheezed when he saw Lykaios dash onto them; he shivered in the second that Uriel was pushed strongly away. His hands were unable to stop the swing of sword; he flinched when he saw his weapon glint. Aeronwen screamed, because a fierce light emanated from the runes, just when the edge pierced her shoulder. The golden fire engulfed her body instantly.

Everything happened quickly. Alexis cowered and grimaced when he heard her howl loudly, almost to an earsplitting point. The flames crawled over her furiously, and he could not avoid whimpering when she began to trash wildly and without reason. She whipped an arm and claw up, to rip him in half with a raging slash. Her gaping maw sharpened, while her arm twisted and deformed to be able to reach him. He raised his own arm in front of his head, to brace himself for her slash.

He did not need to shield himself. He heard another voice scream.

Alexis panted and lowered his arm; he saw Lykaios there, pulling at that deformed arm with a tail, to stop her from lunging and striking with her last bit of strength.

Both Uriel and Alexis stared with horror, seeing both demons burn and howl in pain. Aeronwen's expression was one of pure rage and agony; all her body was jolting while the golden fire crawled on her flesh. However, there was a trace of satisfaction in her gaping eyes, because she could hear the wolf scream, while he held her. The flames grew on anything that was demonic... and his tails had been touching her.

Lykaios opened his mouth and raised his head up to howl in pain, but he did not let go of her. He was feeling a horrible agony while both were consumed, but he kept her still, even if she was trying to claw blindly, anything at reach, in a raging outburst.

Alexis and Uriel were dazed by what was happening; their eyes shined with the reflection of the blinding fire. They were not able to react. Not until they heard her.

They both gasped and got out of the daze when Ayako's scream echoed. She had recovered a little from the push been given, and was now watching with horror how Lykaios burned. She could see how the flames crawled up his long tails... how they neared his body.

Uriel finally stood from the ground, sharply. He cursed, because he understood perfectly Lykaios' intentions. His claws and arms would have lighted aflame in a second, because he had been holding her directly. The wolf had lunged and taken his place, he had saved him of an inevitable death. He growled and began to run towards Lykaios, angry and grateful at once. He did not hesitate, his hands moved up to try to grab the wolf, in a blind attempt of helping him.
