Ayako raised her head, because she heard a faint mumble.
The hunter gave a sharp glance at Lykaios, and only that was needed to make the fox understand. The demon padded away with a slight annoyed whine; he walked away, to a preventive distance. Because Alexis was waking up, and the last thing Ayako would want, was that he fainted again for seeing Lykaios.
Inside the small cave, the angel moved slightly on his nest, composed of a flat rock and leafs. He could feel the sunlight on him. He moved his head onto a side, frowning as he breathed in, slowly coming to his senses.
Ayako was sitting at the mouth of the opening, nudging the fire at her side, so it would not die out. The amber eyes of the angel opened tiredly, to stare sadly at her figure. He could recognize her, even if she sat outside.
"It was not a dream."
He had hoped he would wake at home. Every day he awoke, here.
The girl smiled a little and looked at him over her shoulder, to speak up cheerfully, too much for him.
"Good morning!"
He wouldn't say the same.
Alexis opened his wings a little, with a groan, having been laying on them, quite uncomfortable.
Humans did not know how tiring was to put weight on them or what?
The young man rubbed his forehead, and then spoke to her coldly, without looking at her.
"Why are you still here?"
She blinked and looked to the sky, thinking thoroughly. He waited, because her blue eyes showed pure focus, like if she was going to say the most reasonable of reasons. But she only ended up shrugging, with a chuckle.
"Don't know! Just though it would be best to know you were alright, after what Lykaios said. Sorry about that, by the way."
Alexis' expression showed suspicion and exasperation. He cursed mentally, while he sat up.
"Is he still around here or-" He heard a bark, outside; and that made him sigh and resign. "Of course he is..."
Ayako bit her lower lip, to contain a small laugh. Meanwhile, Alexis got up from his bed and patted his clothes.
He wasn't coming out his cave yet. He felt weariness. Even if he knew that she would not do anything, because they could have hurt him while he was out cold.
"He is not going to eat you..."
The young angel huffed angrily and stopped looking at his clothes, when he heard her mock him, about his reluctance of getting outside. He got out, stomping his feet firmly and grumpily, without second thoughts of showing his annoyance.
"Well excuse me! Sorry for thinking this way, after having been told all my life that I would be killed if I ever saw one like him! ...And considering my situation, maybe I will be."
The last words had been whispered, not intended for her to hear. But Ayako was the most curious soul that lived, and a hunter with very good hearing.
She saw well the depressed expression on him. Alexis was now crouching near the small river, throwing some water onto his face to wake up fully. Something that was not working for him at all.
"What's wrong?"
Alexis laughed cynically and quietly. He asked himself what was not wrong. Things could not be worse. Or maybe, they could.
