Author's Note: Surprise? If anyone is here? Hopefully the writing is better now. I need a personal creative outlet during this time, thanks for reading and taking this journey with me.
Ring. Riiiing. Riiiiiiiiing.
A constant ringing slammed against your ear drums, and vibrated throughout your entire body. The ringing steadily turned themselves into steady beeps that resonated in your chest. The beeps quickly began to drive you insane, your brain trying to will your arms into punching whatever was the cause of this terrible noise. Yet, it was a sound that you could not stop, which caused your frustration to be almost comically large. Where the hell was it coming from? The reliability of the beeps began to fill you with an unknown strength to replace the previous annoyance. It was a strength that transmitted itself throughout your muscles, the small twitches reminding you that there was a world outside of the beeps. It caused your eyes to attempt to open, and finally breaking through the dried rheum and dust that had collected on your eyelashes after a few excruciating moments. Eventually, your eyes opened wide, feeling as if an eternity had passed.
You were alive. You had willed your body to do something: a basic task but it was something. And if you could do something, of course you could do anything. At least, that's what they liked to tell you, anyway. Your eyes could only take in their surroundings for one second; everything was so clean that the gleam of the white tiles from the fluorescent lighting shining upon them was too painful to gaze upon. Why did everything appear so sterile? Your last sights were dusty, dingy, dark, and yet... With your vision briefly impaired, your other senses began to take in the sounds around you, offering hints to this puzzle you were trying to solve. The beeping began to make sense. Of course. It was your heartbeat. You take a large whiff of the air, filling your lungs beyond the capacity that they had been used to for... however long you had been here. It smelled of disinfectant, of odd medicine smells that only an expert could identify as well as someone's lunch across the hall. Goulash? Anything that was tomato based? Your mouth watered at the thought of solid food, and you couldn't remember the last proper meal that you had. Your breakfast, lunch, and dinners at work always left much to be desired.
Your fingers twitched as your brain sent signals to them to explore. Your appendages felt like moving old furniture: you had to be extremely careful yet the soft creaks reminded you of their fragility and their soft strength. Your exploration led you to discover a blanket was carefully draped over your body; this blanket was unfamiliar, terribly itchy and extremely thin. Were you cold? Hot? An okay temperature that could go either way? You couldn't tell and that was slightly terrifying. What was more terrifying was trying to part your lips. They moved slow as molasses and felt more cracked than the desert sands. The sound that you were able to release was so small, that even you could barely hear it; it was a soft, exhaled breath and with it, you realized how closed and dry your throat felt.
With your anxiety mounting, you decided that it would be best to focus on your hearing once again: the sense that had brought you out of this deep sleep. Steady beeps, no personality, no feeling. The sound of life at its most basic level. The melody that new mothers longed to hear, the confirmation that a person was thriving. However, the patterned noise was quickly beginning to irk your nerves. This couldn't have been how your heart actually felt. Steady beeps, no personality, no feeling. As you began to take in the room more and more, you realized how still everything felt. Analyzing what you could about your immediate area, you noticed that you were completely alone. The stark contrast between your last memory and this one was too much for you. Before, he was there beside you. He was there beside you... with someone else. A dangerous, dark figure. Presently, you were completely alone in this room. As you thought about this encompassing loneliness more and more, the tension in your body started to grow.
