He had that glint in his eye that meant action. More specifically that he would get involved. I avoided his glistening eyes, choosing to focus on the ground. I knew couldn't lose him. I knew I had to tell him. I knew that I was scared of his reaction. I also definitely knew now was not the time to tell him but I needed to do something.
As I looked up, he started to turn away, to discuss the matters with his fellow officers.
I called out to him.
"Deeks!"
"Yes, Kensi." No sugar bear or Fern leaving his softly pursed pink lips. My heart slowly faltering.
"Please, be safe. I can't lose you due to this." My heart pounding in my chest waiting for his answer, which I expected to be told, I had already lost him.
But to my surprise, he responded; "I never break my promises, Fern."
I smiled knowing I could count on him, to come back to me, hopefully unharmed.
However, he wasn't quite finished and he promptly said, "and after this, you and I are having a talk." He finally went to convey the information, while I called Callen and Sam. I thought they should be down here.
As soon as Sam and Callen arrived, everything seemed to mobilise fairly quickly. They sent me back inside, packing my normal SIG, while SWAT and other re-enforcements waited to breach the back entrance. I knew Sam, Callen and Deeks were fully suited up and ready to open the front door to evacuate the hostages but firstly I had to attempt to distract the leader.
I know you are all thinking how stupid it is for a pregnant lady to voluntarily be involved in ending a hostage situation. You are probably all asking yourselves 'what was I thinking?'. To be honest, I wasn't but now I knew I had to protect this baby at all costs, so I simply made an excuse.
"I need to go to the bathroom." I was vague and those attached to the comm in my ear wouldn't think anything of it but truth is I really had to go. The leader sent one of his henchmen to escort me to the staff bathroom. The staff bathroom was out of sight of the others so I had time to catch the henchman unexpected.
I leaped. I sent my arms flying around his neck and applied heavy pressure until he started to falter. Then I lowered him gently to the floor, I then proceeded to drag him into the bathroom and locked the door from the outside.
I stayed waiting in the cove beside the bathroom door, as I knew that the leader would send one of the last two henchmen looking for us. To my luck, he sent the strong of the two. He was no match for me though and was down in 2 minutes, in a much similar way to that of the other gentleman.
I gave Callen the signal that two out of the four was down. Then they breached. Sam took down the leader, while SWAT took down the henchman. Callen and Deeks were in charge of evacuating the hostages, in as little time as possible.
I choose to hide behind the counter which I could access from my vantage point near the bathroom. I thought this would be the safest place to escape from the crossfire and protect the baby and I.
As SWAT, Callen, Sam and Deeks sent the "All Clear" through the connected comms, I slowly stood. As I stood, I realised the bathroom door had been kicked out and a gun was aimed at me. It was the henchman that took me to the bathroom.
He took the shot.

I was never more terrified of being shot than at this very moment. Luckily, my fast reflexes meant that I moved so that instead of landing on my heart the bullet hit my upper arm. It tore through the surrounding flesh, the stinging pain unbearable. I was bleeding profusely but it was a clean through-and-through. I was lucky.
The next thing I know I was on the ground. Black started to creep at the corners of my vision and I saw Deeks running over to me followed by two paramedics.
