You were at The Winters Ball, as a plus one of the Schuyler Sisters. You walked back to the edges of the ballroom, you just had a dance with a very nice man, many men had danced with you tonight, actually. But you weren't that happy, you'd rather be at home, watching Netflix alone.
Angelica Schuyler, one of your closest friends, approached you soon after your dance.
"Hey Y/N, how are you doing? Enjoying the ball?" She asked, smiling brightly.
"Eh, I'm okay. The ball is okay." You replied blandly.
"You sure you're okay? You seem down..." She placed a hand on your shoulder.
"I'm just a little.. lonely, and being the center of attention isn't really fun." You looked to the floor.
"Well, I think I know someone who you'd get along with quite nicely." She turned you into the direction of a girl, with beautiful, bouncy chestnut hair and brown joyful eyes. She wore a flowing, golden dress.
"See her? That's my sister, Peggy Schuyler. She's been feeling a little left out, not to mention her boyfriend dumped her recently. I think you could cheer her up." Angelica looked at you with excited eyes.
"Ange, I love you, but how could I cheer her up? I don't even know her that well." You protested.
"Then get to know her! Go grab some punch and offer it to her." She suggested.
You gave an annoyed sigh, before taking her advice and going over to Peggy, with two cups of punch.
"Hey there, uh.. I'm Y/N. Would you care for some punch?" You caught her attention, offering her a cup.
"Oh.. hi. I'm Peggy, and sure." She said, hesitantly taking the cup of punch.
There was an awkward silence between you two for a minute.
"Um, your sister, Angelica, suggested I talk to you." You felt very awkward.
"Oh, nice." She replied, looking at the floor.
"I'm sorry, I'm weird sometimes.. and I'm not usually the one to walk up and talk to someone." You said, flustered. She giggled.
"You're not the only one, I end up embarrassing myself sometimes too." She gave you a bright smile.
And the two of you hit it off! You and Peggy talked about many subjects, you spent the rest of the night with her. When the time to leave approached, you felt down.
"Peggy, tonight has been one of the best nights of my life. I'd love to see you again, would you like my number?" You smiled, pulling out your phone.
"Y/N, I'd love to talk to you more, here's my number." She gave you her information, and you two said goodbye to one another.
Honestly, she left you feeling helpless.
