Request: Could you do one where Nate writes a song for his fiancée and she tears up and stuff and he's just smiling and it's all fluffy and cute?

     N A T E

"Baby, you know I don't do parties..." Y/N said as she was hesitant to get into the car. It was at this point that I wished her best friend would have kept her mouth shut until we actually got to the house. The engagement party would have been a surprise if it weren't for her.

"Babe. Come on." We stood on opposite sides of the car, and I tilted my head in her direction. "Our friends and family are doing some nice shit for us. You can't turn 'em down like that." Knowing her, she wouldn't be able to live with that guilt, and so with a grumble, she opened the car door and sat. "Good girl." I teased as I got in as well.

Throughout the car ride, I let her rant to me about how she didn't want anything big and how the wedding was supposed to be the main focus. The engagement party wasn't any of my doings, but if this was making her feel more comfortable, so be it. Once we got to the venue, I took hold of her hand and marveled at the ring I had gotten her.

"Y/N, we're getting married. Ain't that the most important thing? Let's just let them do this for us, and we can focus on the wedding. Is that okay?" From the look in her eye, I could tell she wanted to retaliate, but I kept smiling at her and eventually she gave in. She rolled her eyes, a hint of a grin pulling at her lips.

"I hate that I can't resist that damn smile." She muttered before holding my chin and pulling me in for a kiss.

"Works every time." I waved a winning fist, pecking her lips once more then getting out of the car. We walked hand in hand into the house, which her best friend said was Y/N's grandparents' place or something. Right off the bat, we were greeted by the hosts of the party, Sammy, Swazz, and two of Y/N's closest friends.

"Hey, hey, hey, there's the couple of the decade!" announced Sammy.

"Aww, thank you guys for doing this for us!" Y/N gushed as she gave each of them a hug. "You really didn't have to though."

"Oh please, girl. This was an absolute must." One of her friends insisted. While they walked ahead and got into that conversation, I hung back and checked with the boys.

"Y'all bring the stuff?" I asked. The party wasn't the only surprise Y/N had in store for today. After all, what kind of fiancé would I be if I didn't have a gift for her?

"For sure, man. We got you." Swazz confirmed, clapping hands with me. "Rupp's ready too, it's all out back."

I nodded, relieved that they pulled through. We've been working nonstop for this surprise for the past two weeks. It had to be perfect. When Y/N and I stepped out into the backyard, she was blown away by all the decorations and people, and I had to admit, I was a little surprised myself. I'm sure all the decorating had to be done by the girls, but I hadn't expected so many people to show up. We went around and greeted everyone, taking time to have small talk with people here and there. Through it, however, my mind was elsewhere.

After Y/N finally had a chance to sit down and be with our friends while we ate, it was time for the real party to start. I took her onto the dance floor, and we turned the hell up. Granted, as best as we could with little kids running around and the clean versions of our favorite songs.

Then it was time for the toasts. Because my boys and her girls were the hosts, they started it off. Sam and his dumbass went first, and we couldn't help but laugh at how unprepared and badly-worded his speech was. Nonetheless, I understood what he meant, and we had our moment through a firm hug. During the rest of their toasts, there was laughter and tears (mostly from Y/N) and best of all, great memories shared. And finally, it was my turn. Usually it would only be the hosts and maybe the parents making speeches, but I couldn't not make a grand gesture. Y/N seemed to be surprised when I hopped onto that stage, so thankfully nobody peeped a word.

"Alright, uh– Thank you for all the kind words, y'all are the best friends we could ever ask for. I'm so blessed to be able to share this day with my favorite people. Moms, Pops, thanks for raising me to be the man that I wanna be, so now I can take care of Y/N and maybe a little someone in the future." I earned some chuckles for that one. "Mister and Misses Y/L/N, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your daughter's life. I promise to always put her first and make sure that she is the happiest she can be. I am truly honored to have someone like her in my life, so thank you for being so supportive of her and us." When I looked over at Y/N, I could already see tears in her eyes, and I began to laugh because I haven't even gotten to her yet. "Baby girl, my Y/N. You're already cryin'!" All heads were turned towards her, and we all shared a laugh. She just shook her head, laughing as she wiped at her cheeks and waved us away. "For real though, you make me so happy, and I want nothing but the best for us. I'm not very good at expressing my feelings all the time, and everyone here knows that, but I hope this song puts it all into words." Clearing my throat, I turned towards Dillon and gave him the cue to start up the song.

As cliche as it sounds, the whole time I was performing, I never once looked away from Y/N, and I felt like we were the only ones there. I watched her smile and bob her head to the beat, but what really struck me were the tears in her eyes. She was oozing happiness, and that's the very thing I wanted out of this. Just the thought of her being happy kept a permanent smile on my face as I looked down at her and finished singing the chorus.

"I can't wait to marry you, lil' mama. I love you so much." While our guests cheered for the song, I watched as Y/N got up and came running towards the stage. She scurried up the steps, and I held my arms out just before she jumped into them.

"Oh my god, I love you, I love you, I love you!" She sniffled, her arms tight around me as she buried her face in my neck. "Thank you so much, Nate. I can't believe you did that." I just laughed and rubbed her back, pressing a kiss to the side of her head.

"You're my muse, baby. I'd do whatever to see you smile."
