Sweat. It was the first thing I felt as the
overwhelming heat consumed me, I
couldn't handle this much longer. Where am I? I looked left, I looked right yet my eyes refused to adapt to the surrounding darkness. The thick, salty beads dripped down my face continually leaking out of my pores and seemingly never ending. My hands grasped around me blindly becoming gritty as I attempted to recognize where I was. "Help! Help me! Someone please!" I scream out with ragged breaths as my lungs become tired from the overuse in the clammy air.
Suddenly, I am awarded with a sharp sliver of blinding light, leaving my eyes to adjust as I heartily gasped in the puff of semi-cool air.
Adding to my distress in this sweltering hell, as quickly as the light appeared it then disappeared. My breathing continued to slow, my chest getting heavier with each rise and fall as the suffering increased. It seemed as if the temperature was rising even more, my exhales becoming too hot to even touch my face. My mind felt as if it was swimming, diving up and down and over. The dizziness was almost too much; it was as if my head could fully rotate around my body. A sharp pain began in my tailbone, ebbing its way up through my spine and reaching the back of my skull. The pain began to dull as my vision faded into black, the same color that was all around me. Yet this black was fuzzy, almost there but not quite, like a disconnected television screen. The crushing weight on my chest became overpowering, sinking my body into the darkness that patiently awaited it.
